Crying at all the wpbl posts I see on my timeline because fomo (I missed the first game since I was camping in the woods) Iām currently shaking in anticipation for this evenings game ļæ¼
anyone comparing quality of baseball between the wpbl and mlb or any other men's baseball without IN DETAIL discussing the level of access to literally anything (money, teams to fucking play on, support like trainers and nutritionists, time to train (how many of these players have been full time students or working jobs for years?), so much more) in women's baseball compared to random men's indy leagues that nobody has ever heard of, let alone the mlb/milb system... probably not worth listening to at all.
give the women several decades of everything the men get and then you can say whatever you want i guess
(like. they don't have the equivalent of spring training games even. they all got here a few days ago and have not had much or any time to play together as teams, even for drills but especially in actual game format. i forgot to say that before but that's huge especially re: any defense issues that may happen at the start.)

The W in PWHL stands for women. Why the fuck should trans men play in the league? Itās a league for women. If trans women are women and should play in the womenās league, then transmen are men and donāt belong in the womenās league. Transmen donāt belong in womenās spaces, end of story. At the end of the day it seems like most of yāall actually think that transmen and nonbinary are just āwoman-liteā.
I agree with you, I don't think trans men belong in womens sports because they ARE men. But, thats not what USA hockey thinks. Right now, the policy stands as trans men not being able to play with men at all and not able to play with the women if they've been on testosterone.
This means trans men are near-efficiently barred from most hockey all throughout the US, even beer leagues (if they're gendered). It also means trans men can't really ever go pro or play at any higher level than low leagues. Trans men also deserve to be able to play at a higher level. I don't think the NHL's in any place right now to flip flop their own highkey twisted views to let trans men in, so as a temporary measure, I think that the pwhl should open its doors for gender diverse people, including trans men. This does not mean I believe that trans men are women or extensions of that.
I fully believe trans men are men and deserve a spot in the mens league. I don't think trans men and/or nonbinary people are "woman-lite", I am a trans man myself.
I hope for a world where trans men can play with the men and trans women with the women without fuss, but right now that's not reality and I think the PWHL letting trans men play is a step in the right direction for accepting trans people in sports.
obviously the whole "protect little girls sports from trans people" thing is dumb but especially coming from the world of hockey where your average pwhl player played hockey with the opposite sex until they were well into their tweens/teens. abby roque was playing full contact boys hockey until she graduated highschoolš
full contact AND varsity AND was team captain, too.
Hot take - as a woman in sport I donāt gaf if I play against a man, a trans man, a trans woman, or a non binary pall. Like Iāve literally grown up playing against men. When I first started playing rugby I played co-ed which basically meant me playing on a team of boys playing against a team of boys. I didnāt complain that men āhad a biological advantageā I simply played the game I loved. Obviously I enjoyed playing more once I was in an all girls league but that was simply due to the culture. I think womenās leagues are awesome and trans women deserve to be able to play in them.
