REESE: What's cookin' good lookin'?
It’d be easier to have people who are at the very minimum in one course of theatre- be it stagecraft or musical theatre, or acting. But either way, if you’re not, I’m not one to turn talent away.
I’m in one minimum don’t worry. You know I’m loyal and very good at what I do.
So it’s time to announce the school’s fall play. It’s open auditions- though choice of roles will go mainly to students who are involved in the arts program and have one course of acting with moi. Anyhow, due to it being recently revived on Broadway, we’ll be doing Arthur Miller’s The Crucible- a play that I’m sure most of you read if you attended American High School.
For those of you who need a basic summary: In the insular, Puritan community of 1692 Salem, Massachusetts, a group of young girls are found dancing in the woods, and immediately fall ill. When no earthly cause can be determined, the citizens of Salem suspect that some more sinister force may be at hand. As long-held grudges turn to violent disputes, humiliating secrets are exposed and disseminated, and the line between truth and pretense becomes increasingly blurry, the citizens’ dogged determination to root out evil becomes more dangerous than the evil itself. When the burden of proof is invisible and the crime too terrible to name, everyone becomes a suspect and no one is safe. The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s remarkable 1963 play, remains as relevant as ever, and carries with it a stern warning: in every community torn by suspicion, the most dangerous threat may be the community itself.
Audition info will be posted outside of the theatre so go there for more details and here is the list of characters.
Though I’m not a theatre major I trust my streak of lead roles in shows at Horizons won’t be changing with a new teacher.

ashton: ... I think that's really cool, honestly. Maybe you could give me some pointers. :P I'm not saying I don't know how to dress myself but I like looking moderately presentable and sometimes I need help with that.
ashton: so when all of your schooling is done, you wanna be a fashion designer? or is that only a small part of what you wanna do?
reese: i can certainly help with that. i'm known for being a pretty great stylist. and while the hobo hipster look is charming, it's not /always/ classroom appropriate ;)
reese: mm, i'm not sure. i don't really enjoy thinking about the future too much. i'm more of a fan of there here and now versus what is going to happen later on in life.

ashton: tell me what makes you passionate about fashion, then.
ashton: for whatever it happens to be worth - I like watching you perform.
reese: music is always a good choice.
reese: well... i feel like fashion is a great way to express yourself and i like to give people that kind of freedom to tell me what they want to dress like and then give it to them in clothes. a stylist if you will. confidence is sexy and if i can help a person feel more confident then my day is a good one.

ashton: ugh, okay, fine - what /would/ you bet?
ashton: well, that kinda happened in stages - we went on a family trip to Nashville when I was like, four - and I know it's probably weird to like, remember or care about that shit. but I fell in love with music there, I swear to god.
ashton: I ate up absolutely everything related to it and never looked back. I went to see a Broadway show with my ma when I was thirteen and that kinda— it fuckin' blew my mind, babe
ashton: I couldn't think about anything else and I did theater camp like, the immediate summer after and I was sold.
ashton: what got /you/ into music?
reese: well broadway is cool. i think it takes a really great performer to deal with how crazy broadway is, honestly. so i give you a whole lot of kudos. you, tris and delaney are like super stars in my mind.
reese: eh, music isn't really my passion. fashion is more my thing but being on stage was something i enjoyed doing. i did a random show when i was younger and then ever since my freshman year at horizons i got the lead in the musicals and then tristan took over the borealis theatre and i started doing his shows.
reese: it's a fun thing for me. i'm good but broadway isn't really what i want to do.

ashton: :) okay. I don't really know where to start but if you want like, basic facts: I was born in Tennessee, I'm an only child, and my middle name is Michael. I know, generic.

reese: what made you want to be on broadway? was it something that you always wanted to do?
