for non-indigenous people in north america, we must remember that the land we are living on does not belong to us - it’s stolen. before settlers came to the americas the lands were thriving, and now farm industries are helping to destroy the environment that indigenous people are fighting to protect. instead of idolizing mass-production and farming practices that are harmful for the environment, you should research how the indigenous peoples in your area cared for their home and how colonizers have impacted the way we cultivate/care for farmland.

You're sitting on an old log with moss and mushrooms growing on it. Your sweater is much too big for you, and you cover you hands with the sleeves to protect them from the harsh cold weather. You pull your thick fuzzy coat over your head to shield you from the heavy rain. You look up at the sapphire sky and stare at the stars. Time is frozen. You can hear the pitter-patter of the rain as it falls and hits the cool muddy ground. Eventually, you look down at your lap, where your notebook is laying. It is filled with doodles and sketches of mushrooms, trees, and creatures you've spotted during your journey through the forest. You pick up your pen and start to describe the deep blue sky, the glistening stars, the moon and her gentle gaze as she watches over you. You are safe, you are one with nature, you are at peace.
