She shakes her head, biting back a soft laugh. “No, they can’t.”

She huffs a soft laugh but moves closer, unlacing her corset as she does. Bending, she hits the power button, waiting for a moment before the screen lights up, and a news reporter's voice comes from the speakers, the image popping into view only a moment later.

She glances over at the TV, and giggles. "It's called a TV....it's....essentially moving pictures with sound."

  “That’s what I like to hear!” Marlo offered a bright grin and rubbed his hands together, odd eyes skimming over the young woman, casually scanning for valuables he could nab whilst she was distracted. “How about a card trick?”

"Sounds good to me~" She replies, smiling. Out of habit, her hand drifted in the direction of the sword at her hip when his eyes scanned over her, though she doesn’t do much more then let it breeze past for now.

 Was that a— It totally was. A freakin’ sword. His eyebrows rose briefly but his surprise was swiftly smoothed over. Could be worth something he figured, though the defensive movement of her hand notified him that she probably knew how to use that thing. He would have to be careful.  ”Alrighty then. First we need a deck—” Abruptly, Marlo clapped his hands together. There was a brief flash of pale blue light between his palms and he parted them to reveal cards just sitting there as if they had always been present. “— And then we need to shuffle those cards.”  He did just as he said, expertly mixing the deck until it was impossible to tell the order even if he had memorised it prior. That done, he spread them in a circular shape around his hand and held it out.  ”Pick one. Don’t show me, though. Remember it.”

She blinks a little at the flash of light, but smiles, mildly impressed when she sees the deck. She watches him shuffle them quietly, waiting until instructed to select one, glancing at it to memorize it without letting him see it.

She crouches briefly, swiping up something from behind a statue, standing and unlocking the front door with ease, nudging it open and moving inside, automatically turning a little to make sure her companion was still following.

She gives a quick sniff of the air without making it obvious as they approach, finding that there's no unknown or suspicious scents in the air. As a result, she relaxes slightly, speeding up to a slight jog up the stairs to the front door.

She jolts a little at the question, but grins, moving forward. "Follow me." They'd ended up close to her childhood home-the one that she still technically owned, thanks to her 'Aunt' making sure that everything was set up if she ever needed to get out.

Tala stretches a little, glancing around to gauge where they had ended up to see if the area is familiar. The scent in the air is, in a way-more familiar then the air she was breathing back at the castle,at least.

She keeps a firm grip on his hand, holding her head high as they step into the portal. She knew she'd be alright there, but she didn't know if he would-and she didn't think it'd be a good idea to be seperated.
