Question (Milanda one-shot)
Milo and Amanda, in their mid-20s, stood atop a cliff in Danville Woods, watching the sunset.
The view was gorgeous, and it was surprisingly peaceful – although Murphy's Law had thrown quite a few obstacles at them on their way to the forest and on their walk through it, at the moment there was nothing going wrong.
Milo finally felt ready to ask Amanda something that he had wanted to ask her for a long time, and he thought now was the perfect time.
He was a bit nervous, but he felt it had to be done.
“Milo,” said Amanda at the same time.
After a momentary awkward pause, Amanda said, “You go first.”
Milo took a deep breath. “So,” he said, “We've been together for quite some time now-”
They heard a crumbling sound coming from beneath them. They quickly backed away from the cliff. The spot they had been standing on then collapsed.
Milo continued, “I really, really appreciate that you’ve stuck with me for this long despite Murphy’s Law making it hard for things to be as orderly as you like… and sometimes putting us in serious danger. I know we’ve hit some rough patches, but-”
A nearby tree started to fall. Milo and Amanda quickly got out of the way. They were just barely able to avoid being crushed.
“But you bring me so much joy that I think it was more than worth it. I can't imagine what my life would be like without you in it. I sort of feel like this is overdue, but I wasn’t really sure if I was ready for it before. Now I know I am.” Milo then pulled a small black box out of his backpack, got down on one knee, and opened the box to reveal a ring.
“Amanda, will you marry me?” he asked.
Amanda was stunned for a moment.
“I… I… YES!” said Amanda joyously. She then put on the ring and gave Milo a tight hug, which he returned.
“I love you so much!” Amanda said, tears of joy running down her face.
“I love you too, Amanda,” Milo said in response, also tearing up a little.
A few moments passed before a few crows swooped down and started mobbing the couple. They broke the hug as Amanda shouted, “Shoo! Shoo! Go away!” and swatted at the birds with her hand.
“Moment killers,” said Amanda as the crows flew away and she and Milo wiped the tears off their faces.
After they finished wiping away their tears, Milo asked, “So, what did you want to say to me?”
“Oh, um… this is kind of awkward,” Amanda said as she reached into her purse. She pulled an identical-looking box out of her purse and opened it. It also contained a ring. “I was actually going to ask you the same question.”
Another crow swooped down and knocked the box out of Amanda's hand. It then picked up the ring in its beak and flew away.
“Sorry I messed up your plan,” Milo said.
“Don't be. I'm just happy that we're engaged now,” Amanda responded.
The two then shared a passionate kiss.
(I'm not going to start posting fanfiction regularly but I had this cute scenario in my head and I felt like I had to write it)
