Muscles and Mascara

I used to be mad at my body for a lot of things.

I’d be mad that I’m short have a short torso because it makes stomach fat more obvious. I’d be mad that one leg was shorter than the other because it made dancing more difficult and cause a crooked, painful spine. I’d be mad that I had love handles because my mother made fun of them. I’d be mad that I could gain muscle easily, whether it be muscle or fat. I’d be mad that I was born with inverted ankles because it made dancing and turn-out more difficult, and made me more injury prone. I’d be mad that my skin was pale and full of freckles because those girls weren’t ever called “beautiful”. I was mad at my body for having so many flaws.

But now I know that’s what makes it amazing.

My shorter frame makes me the perfect cuddle size. My uneven legs, crooked spine, and turned in ankles taught me to overcome obstacles that may have caused someone else to quit. My ability to gain wait has allowed me to become so strong that I can dance, run, lift, skip, and do anything else that makes me happy. My pale, freckled skin is unique and shows off my heritage.
