“You know, you’re pretty good at this.” Satoru complimented.
He watched Suguru gently rocking Nanako, hand slowly patting the center of her back as she sniffled into his shoulder.
Poor thing had scraped her knee something terrible and no matter what Satoru did he just couldn’t get her to stop sobbing. Her crying high pitched and ear splitting as debated bribing her just to stop.
But soon came in Suguru, swooping her into his arms and shushing her softly. In minutes her sobs turned to pitiful whimpers and now she lay clung to his shoulder. His hair trapped in her clenched little fists
Suguru smiled sarcastically. “I’ve had a lot of practice.” He sighed.
Satoru snickered. “Oh yeah, a hundred cousins. Almost forgot.” He took a seat on the playground bench next to the two, keeping an eye out on Megumi watching Tsumiki and Mimiko on the swings. He obviously wanted to join but stood standoffish to the side with a grumpy face.
“It wasn’t exactly a hundred, more like thirty. But yeah, I guess.” Suguru chuckled. “Nana, my hair. Release.” He tried to pry her fingers from his hair but she whined loudly burying her face further into his shoulder.
“Woooooooow, Mimi just jumped off the swing. That was pretty high.” Satoru whistled. “Bet no one can beat that.”
Nanako’s head popped up, snapping to her twin with wet determined eyes.
She sniffed loudly, wiping her runny nose with her sleeve. “Not that cool.” She muttered.
“Ehhh~?” Suguru gasped. “I don’t know about that.” He looked up thoughtfully. “I think that’s the highest any little girl has jumped off a swing. What do you think, Toru?” Suguru smiled looking at his boyfriend.
Satoru hummed with a nod. “Definately a world record. Don’t think anyone can eeeeever beat that.”
Nanako sniffed again, now wiping her eyes dry as she thought quietly. She can’t let her sister beat her.
Impatiently she wiggled from Suguru’s lap. “Down!” She squeaked.
Suguru laughed airily. “Okay okay, hold on.” He picked her up around the waist and set her on the ground.
The minute her feet touched the ground she took off running.
Satoru draped an arm across the back of the bench, over Suguru’s shoulder. Suguru comfortably sitting back in the crook of Satoru’s arm.
“You’re doing well too, you know?” Suguru smiled.
Satoru’s cheeks pinkened. Eyes trailing for a moment from the kids to Suguru. His light amythyst eyes sparkling.
Satoru scoffed, ears now red. “Yeah well…I don’t I just watch you.” He shrugged dismissively.
Suguru chuckled lightly, patting Satoru knee. “Well, I think we’re both doing well then.”
