As polyamory becomes more trendy and BDSM becomes more socially acceptable it is important that we in the sexually liberated community acknowledge that these can easily be manipulated to propagate systems of patriarchy and misogyny. We as men (especially cis hetero white men) come from generations of positions of privilege and power, particularly the area of sex. A man who wants to have multiple partners and engage in violence against women doesn’t impress me, and should give us all reason for pause - this is exactly what men have been doing for millennia. If we are not careful we just continue forms of keeping women as virginal slaves for progination.   The key to our sexual liberation is in the empowerment of women and people in the GSM (Gender and Sexual Minority) community. If doms and daddies just use words like poly and BDSM to fecundate future generations into patriarchal and misogynistic systems, then we are not “woke” at all, nor are we liberated. Instead we are nothing more than abusers hiding behind the terminology of sexual liberation. Rather, healthy kink play is an avenue through which women and persons in the GSM community can express their needs and desires, enjoy exploring their needs and desires, and find fulfillment in whatever roles they want to fulfill. It is their choice. In this way, we make room at the table for people who have never been allowed a chair.  The goal of healthy kink play should be mutual beneficiality, mutual growth, and the empowerment of those traditionally held in low positions.  Consent is not just about equality, it’s about empowerment. Healthy kink sex is not just about sex, it’s about empowerment. We in the kink community have the opportunity - the responsibility - to lead the way in showing society that healthy kink sex is empowering to women and members of the GSM community.
