I picked up The Shards recently (although I didn't get past the first episode yet)
and I just have to say the essence of the type of story Bret Easton Ellis tells was so imbued to that work that I immediately recognized it as something he had a hand in before I learned that he wrote the book that the tv show is based on.
I think it was mostly because the voice over narrator for the M.C. sounds so much like Patrick Bateman. but absolutely hats off to the people who created the show.
omg someone else noticed how much bret in the show talks kinda like patrick bateman fskdlfsdsdkf exactly This is THE bret eston ellis in his pure form.
and where are those new showverse fans anyway? i need the shards content
writing a fic about showverse bret ellis and unfortunatly thinking woah i have a crush on him now tbh
i love how the shards/american psycho parallel each other with their protagonists. patrick is going crazy because no one gets that he's a murderer and bret is going crazy because he's the only one who gets that there's a murderer in the same room as everyone else.

i've actually started writing like a bret-centered fic but i'm also writing another big fic that isn't shards-related so well i'll write when i feel like it (i hope the show will make me do it)
i haven't check but. so showverse bret ellis is actually called bret easton ellis right? and bookverse bret is plainly bret ellis. or am i wrong
we should consider the concept of bret ellis the shards hallucinating patrick bateman too
people who hate on the shards show who HAVEN'T read the book piss me off. "this is not what i was expecting..." you had absolutely NO idea what it is yesterday
some people might take it too seriously

oh my god it makes me so anxious when characters in thriller mystery shows and movies dont contact the police 😭 especially if theyre just regular officers and not the super dumb ones that dont believe you. if none of them have names or speaking lines it’s probably okay to tell them about the literal missing person you found in the basement
the mind of bret easton ellis is difficult to understand if you're not on the same wave as him.
Bret Ellis in the book: Everyone hates me, all I have is myself and my book (and Matt Kellner, who's head over heels for him, and Debbie, who genuinely really cares about him, and Ryan, who thinks he's attractive, and his mom, who writes him all the time and loves him dearly, and Thom, who really does love him but only as a friend, and a vague friendship group who always invites him to parties, and Robert, who genuinely wants to be his friend, and Rosa, who looks out for and takes care of him, and an aunt who lends him her house, and grandparents who look after and spoil him every summer).
Bret Ellis in the TV show: Me and besties! Me and the fam! (And then it's a group of people who wish him genuine and constant harm).
