I. I am a boat. No. A ship. I travel great distances and have seen vast oceans. Storms have come and gone, and my anchor has always been God. I am a ship. Made to travel on sea and reside on water. But I am never to allow water in, or I will cease to float. I ought to make use of the wind: let it push me to my destination as far as I will allow. Yet I am never to be overcome by the wind. Why then, in a storm do I fret? Why, when surrounded by water, do I crumble? “Oh you of little faith! Never look at your storm but always toward your saviour!” Awareness. All you need. David was aware of his identity as a child of God and defeated the giant. Oh great ship! Tell me. Are you aware of your anchor? Do you know of your purpose? Because since you set sail, you have cloaked yourself with shame. Flaunt your beauty and bless others. Head toward your destination with pride! Passengers await you! Why do you wish to be a raft? A speed boat? A yacht? What makes them more beautiful than you are? They have their purpose and so do you. A speed boat may get to it’s destination earlier but could never take so many along. A raft may be more open but cannot weather a storm. A yacht, more luxurious, but isn’t built for the things you’ve seen. You are a ship. Take pride in that. You are a Christian. Made to reside in the world. But never to allow the world change you, or you will cease to shine. You are a Christian. Strong enough to defeat your giants. Look to your saviour.

I feel like we forget this a lot. Loving each other is a major part of who we are supposed to be as Christians. “By this all people will know that you are my disciples”. Do people know us as Christians to be a community of love? Think about it. Something needs to change.

Love yourself and you will see how people’s attitudes toward you will change

Many times, we get confused and use some of these terms interchangeably. Becoming like Christ and being a “better you” are two different things. Don’t get me wrong, Self-improvement is possible (becoming more positive, hardworking, etc). But there is only so much you can do in your own power💪🏿. God wants us to live an even more exciting life than just “getting ourselves together”. He wants us to live in the miraculous, doing the impossible everyday✨.
