Special reminders because my sixth sense is screaming that someone needs to hear this as badly as I once did:
You’re not difficult to love: you’re an experience to love. You are an experience they may never have been ready for, and it will never be your fault that they could not handle your fire. Shine brighter. You are too full of life to be half loved.
Losing your productivity does not make you worthless. You’re still an artist, a writer, an athlete. Breathe. Take a mental break. Then, when you wake up one day and your mind feels clear, go for that run again. Write. Make art. Film. Passions don’t die - taking a break doesn’t mean you love it any less. Be healthy.
Not being a morning person doesn’t make you any less worthy than those who wake up at 5am to watch the sunrise, do yoga, and eat waffles. Does your passion hit at 11pm? 2am? Good - be your own ideal. Eat waffles watching the phases of the moon. Don’t apologize for when you thrive.
Perpetual sadness doesn’t need to ruin your life. Let it motivate you. Does your depression make you want to lay in bed and hate yourself all day? Say ‘fuck you’, get up, and do everything in your power to be successful. Fight through it. Get revenge on it. Live your life beautifully and fully and thrive specifically because you refuse to play an active role in your own misery. When you do recede into those feelings, as you inevitably will, you will never doubt that you are strong again.
Do not become the person who hurt you. Do not drink the poison from their wounds, or else years later you will look into the mirror and see the same person you hated staring back at you. Do not get bitter. Feel the pain they unleash on you, feel it deeply, and then let it go. Let them go. I swear to you that you will grow from this.
Make yourself a priority. At the end of the day, you are your most important commitment. You are the only one you always have, the one you should love most. Take all the love that they didn’t feel, pour it back into yourself, and run. Leaving is not enough - stay gone. Do not romanticize the people who hurt you. Do not water a dead flower.
Like attracts like. Be positive. Focus on who you want to be. Love yourself. Always have goals. Things will fall into place as soon as you recognize that you have the power to make it happen. Don’t get distracted by the insignificant things. Commit to bettering yourself.
