The conch is found at the beginning and is the main part of the first rule the boys have—during meetings, whoever has the conch has the right to speak. This immediately establishes how the conch is a symbol for rules and order, and that symbolism continues throughout the story. Up until it was broken, there was still some semblance of order with Ralph’s group—who had ownership of the conch. However, once it was destroyed order basically vanished, with Piggy being killed and all the other boys hunting down Ralph.

The conch is definitely one of the things that are harder to explain the symbolism of 😭😭 It took me a bit but I figured out how to word it!

There is a few things to note first…

While I did not use ai (ew ai bleh bleh blehhh), if you directly use what I said it could get flagged as ai? I feel like I write kinda like an ai would (especially with the emdashes…) so be warned..

I tried my best with grammar, but there are some things I wasn’t quite sure how to word it properly so there might be some grammar mistakes (there may be like 2 but that’s still enough to bug me…)

I don’t know what Ralph’s group is actually called… so I just called it Ralph’s group. If there is a better name for it you’ll need to swap what I put out for it…
