Hi Nadia ๐. I was just wondering if you have any advice for getting my nights and days back to normal? For a month or so, I've been awake all night, and asleep all day. Sometimes I stay up all night until the mid afternoon, then sleep til 3am, and stay awake til I'm tired. This is really inconvenient for me right now as I'm trying to get myself healthy. Any advice would help tremendously. Thank you ๐
Aw that sounds awful. Truly sleep is LIFE. Firstly you must understand that we are creatures of HABIT! So what has happened here is you have got into the HABIT of staying away and sleeping all day. Which is great news because it means if you created the habit, you also have the power to break it and to create a NEW habit that is self serving to your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development.
Firstly you need to stay awake ALL day, no matter how tired you are so that come night time you are exhausted enough and tired enough to fall asleep. Set a bed time and go to bed at that time, all lights off, no phone, be disciplined with this and you will see that you start to train your body to go back to sleep at normal times. Even if for the first week you are awake for ages, be disciplined and stay in bed away from your phone, tv or lights. Your body needs to know... its time for bed! :)
Another thing is diet, make sure you steer clear of fats before before, keep your dinners high carb and low fat, and allow at least 2-3 hours window from you last meal to sleep time.
Walk barefoot on the grass before you go to sleep, and do some relaxing breathing and meditation to release all the stress from the day. Taking a bath is also nice. Just whatever you do stay away from computer screens, tv.s bright lights and loud things. Keep it soft and gentle and relaxing to get you ready for bed.
Also pick a time to wake up, and no excuses GET OUT OF BED AT THAT TIME.. for me I sometimes put my phone in my bathroom so I have to walk all the way toย my bathroom to turn my alarm off so that I get up and don't hit the snooze button lol Its so easy to roll over and continue sleeping but in your case if you are tried u are sleeping at the wrong times and then its spilling over and affect your nighttime sleep ( which is your deepest sleep) so its important and is not that same as when you sleep during the day time.
Make sure you are also exercising at LEAST 20 mins a day/ even just walking. You must be doing something that gets your active and releases dopamine.
