Funassyi was given a certificate of appreciation by the Chiba Prefectural Police Headquarters today, April 14, 2015, in recognition of his work as a Police Recruitment Activities Ambassador for the department. Named to this position in April 2014, Funassyi has appeared at several events promoting the Chiba police department, and is also featured on this year’s recruitment poster (described here). The Chiba Police credit Funassyi with helping to improve the image of the police department a good place to work. Funassyi expressed his happiness as being able to “cooperate with the Chiba police, who help to make our community safer”.

Notes:

The last picture shows that the certificate is made out to ふなっしー様 - “Funassyi-sama”.

Some reports noted that Funassyi does not take any pay for his work with the Chiba police.

Funassyi was his usual irreverent self, tweeting “The no-pants detective is here! You’re under arrest!” The “no-pants” refers to how Detective Funassyi (bottom right in the main picture) doesn’t seem to be wearing pants on the recruitment poster.)
