"Fair enough," Khion conceded. It never hurt being more cautious than not here in the wolves' den. Or vampire den. "I run diagnostic labs for the clinic downtown. It's slow, but steady. Not so bad a job, honestly." Definitely less stressful than what he'd been doing for the family business, though Soren occasionally wondered how much of that was self-inflicted too. Irrelevant now, he reminded himself, floating for a moment in that buoyant freedom of remembering he never had to care about Mistry-Van Wyck again.
