"Not the stone, you. You are very critical of yourself, though admittedly without so many words. I learn to read between the lines - especially when I speak to those I find most interesting." Sakkara smiled at her, recalling a terrible moment in time so wistfully. It was best to remember the few good moments on that ship, rather than the torture they'd all endured.
"Tell me now where Fate is leading you... peace, finally? Or does the snake refuse to relinquish her fangs?" She spoke with great interest, and eyes shimmering with glee, as though either answer would please her.
The faiman had met the druid during a time when she was at her most raw, when chains kept her captivate and control keep her under by the Kossith. She faced the imprisonment that she had witnessed while young and spent her life running from, plucking at the strings of fate with poisoned blade with the hidden ones and taking from evil with the thieves guild.
Raven doesn't surrender secrets easily despite how she cannot lie, she is a rouge and there is power in keeping cards close to her chest. "Iskaldrik has finally been returned from the Aetheron's who stole it, I'll be sticking around to make sure the new world order behaves." she'll be on the prowl between shadows, been cities plucking poison from the pattern as she always has.

"I heard it said you were not a hero," she murmured, sidling up to the faiman. "The wheel turns, the fabric of Fate is weaved... A single thread in the tapestry, though it's color brightly shines, can never see it's purpose in the pattern of the grand design." She smiled lightly. "Thanks partially to your efforts, this country and your people can begin again. How does that feel to you, Raven?"
"You mean the stone was talking shit?" she's surprised, Sakkara seemed awfully nice the last time they met and now she's sidling up to tell her the stones were running their mouth as if they were back in the school yard. She's giving her a sideways look, the audacity of trying her. "I mean it was in between burning the whole place down with a Molotov cocktail or allowing one more day for the sun to shine on this forsaken place. It's alright." She was never one to be weepy or bare her heart easily, Iskaldrik would have killed her a million times over if they had caught her, so she's grateful the prisoners of the mine had been liberated and she had her parents back.

A slow blink follows, as she pays more attention to the stranger than she had been. Clearly, there is more of her beyond the surface, and in a place like Caribella that does not bode well. There is simply no way she would have made it so far into the island without being bothered if she was as inherently naive as she was painting herself to be. Whether she is lying or not, the fact that she had admitted this so unashamedly made her dangerous, if only because she had managed to survive so far despite her lack of knowledge.
“He controls one of the four pirate armadas that call this island home, so yes. I would say he is worth knowing about, if only to avoid getting yourself killed.” Funnily enough, she supposes she should have seen it coming, as the other also didn’t seem to recognize her. Now, Valdís herself works in anonymity. Is the reason she could step into the tower without too much worry. But in Caribella? In Caribella, she is usually recognized. The eyes on the conversation are a sign of that, people curious as to why she is indulging the fresh bait.
“Now don’t be bringing any ominous shit upon this fine island,” she says sharply, eyes narrowed in thought. There is logic to those words, but frankly that sounds fucking annoying, so she hopes for her sake that doesn’t happen. If it does? Well, she is motivated enough to find the other and shoot her in the ass for putting that ominous shit into the air. “You know how pirates are, very superstitious. Don’t go saying that shit, lest the waters hear you and make it true.”
"Noted." She travelled across the water to experience a world that was far different from hers, she had gone through the breath of souls trial with Kuno and exposed him to the most vulnerable pierces of her, baring all that she had to hide and she witnessed the truth of him, found herself admitting to the love that coursed deep through her and heard 'I love you' from his lips, a sentiment that she didn't think was possible from another, especially one so good.
The barrier that kept Iskaldrik prisoned had wavered, only weakened for a moment but enough to make hope form which there was nothing quite as dangerous as hope that had feathers, a chance to fly. To return to the land that bore her and tried to kill her for the arcane that ran through her veins, she wanted a place where she could forget where she came from and it seemed she had found a mystery on Caribella. "Who controls the others?" a glint within her dark eyes that showed true curiosity, the elvhen clairvoyance that ran through her veins whispered that the one she spoke too had a hand in it.
"As assumed, I'm not a pirate." A sly curve to her lips meant that she was not above their ways, having been a highway man all her life and a quite talented thief. "Monsters have always been very real and impossible to hide from, where I come from, monsters are not only born but made." From poison, the Witchers had been made and hunted magic kind.
“Have you not heard of the leader of Thalassa’s Armada?” She asks in prompting, brow raised in question to emphasize the disbelief in her tone. After all, the rumors about Seraphiel were widespread, so she very much doubted that the stranger had not heard of him… Even if she did have the air of someone that had been living under a rock until very recently.
“Spirits are not an uncommon occurrence in this island,” Valdís shrugs, knowing that while her meeting with Compassion was a rarity, spirits were more widely spread than even she would know. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been in that mess in the first place. “So the answer would be yes to both.”
Caribella had always been a wild place, and the wild tended to consume all those weak enough not to survive it. It comes at no surprise that there is bodies rotting under the planks.
"I have not." Halfbloods cannot tell lies and she doesn't utter one, it is better to be underestimated, disbelief colors the tone of the women's voice and Raven leans into it, she does not serve her ego first but survival through any measure and she has learned that much can be gained by lying in wait, protected by jagged mountains she often travelled through and ambushing her prey.
The names that she learns are carried by ravens sent by the Old Woman in the Mountain and carved into iron coins. "Is he worth knowing?" her question isn't colored in complete genuine curiosity, she's intrigued but she can tell the disbelief indicates that the captain is a legend well spread across the island.
"The world is changing, empires are falling and even old gods can't hold power forever. The tremor that shook this drinking hole makes me think another is awaking, hopefully it's well fed." she lifts a glass in a cheer to the state of the current world burning and takes a hearty swig.

∅ There was an uneasy feeling within the barbarian, it clung under his ribs and found comfort pressed against the werewolf's tender gut. Brushing a hand across his sweat laden brow, Jove sat near the crackling warm of a campfire drawn up and stoked throughout the night. The familiar cold of Iskaldrik just as persistent as he remembers.
Although, the new unmistakable stink of blight in the air had the werewolf sulking on his involvement in the Iskaldrik's fall - or rather, his lack of involvement. The only familiarity Jove could find in this instance was the uneasy feeling in his stomach as snow, ash, and blight flurried in the air.
A breath could be heard from beside the werewolf. Jove, ever the social wolf, raised his brow as this scent beside him was rather new. Turning his head towards this new person, heat of the fir pit shifting across Jove's face as he did so, the werewolf offers in a low voice, perhaps too calm for what was laid ahead of them. "This your first time in Iskaldrik?"
Raven did not know if she would ever step foot on the Iskaldrik soil again, if she would ever see her homeland again and still she yearns to know of her parents fate. She does not believe the Aetheron's claims that the prisoners of the mines were liberated especially as the land has became such tainted with smoke and ash in the air, red blighted veins pulsing through the land and even the snow that falls cannot cleanse the air of the smell of burning.
The white unbreakable cliffs of Yggdrasildal tower overhead and she knows what the upcoming fight entails, her human father to share his culture use to tell her tales of Toth, the dragon of fire and the old gods that brought darkness upon the land before the Legion of the Dead slain him and she is no hero, there is no red hand that marks her skin and yet she will fight until the bloody end with her parents faces seared into her memory.
She is dressed in leathers traditional of a rogue and her anger is a conduit that has always kept her warm, still the cold tries to seep into her bones so she draws near to the fire to warm her hands and she has always blended well into the shadows, use to traversing Taravell as a Hidden One and a bandit. Her features show no reflection of the intensity of emotions that she feels being back in her homeland. Shadows of the firelight dance across her visage. "I was born here. I was here when the Aetherons invaded. Is this your first time?"

Amber Midthunder was an absolute BADASS in Prey!
Reluctantly, she looks away from the barrier, her eyes falling in a familiar slip of a thing. Instantly, a headache begins to build on the back of her head as she wonders if the woman recognizes her. She had been fairly in the open back in the Dreadnaught, after all, so it wouldn’t be a surprise that the faiman would recognize her instantly. It’s just a tad annoying, she must admit. She had gone out of her way so far to avoid all of the pesky survivors, only to run into one entirely by accident in the middle of nowhere.
Joy.
Sighing to herself more than anything, she kept her expression placid yet friendly as she turned to look at the woman with a raised brow. A brow that only went higher and higher in her forehead as she watched the tomfoolery that she had planned.
There is no need to say anything as the rock is thrown in an arc and hits the barrier, giving off the usual chain reaction. Still, she lets out a huff of amusement and shakes her head.
“I don’t think the barrier has weakened quite enough for that just yet,” she says dryly, but still offers what could easily pass for a smile of encouragement. “Still, that was a good first attempt.”
Raven does not recognize Belladona from the Dreadnaught, she does recognize her from the Queen's station where they met when Raven was on the station to gaze upon the blimps leaving the station and scheming to herself, not a word spoken to Belladona about it, about hijacking the blimps in a robbery -- she had successfully gotten the jump on many carriages travelling on the highway and pilfered with chests of gold and jewels, had succeeded in many thieves missions and to take the skies would be the next level and the peak of the challenge for a bandit worth it's merit and she could imagine the riches that were on such a vessel.
The Dreadnaught was peak trauma and she did her best to block on every memory that she was held prisoner, not including the moments with Kuno.
Raven stole hope and joy from every one that she came across on the Dreadnaught, using her paralyzing ability to kill any revolution before it became full bloom in anyone's mind.
"One day it will come down and everyone on the other side will answer for their crimes." A harden look within her eyes and the lines of her body are screaming murder, still she isn't trying to be too obvious but it's hard to hide her dark desires.
This was the Legion's business and Eino was only slightly pulled from his own thoughts at a stranger poking at their journey. Many legionnaire's had dispersed in their own time, in their own ways, but Eino had not only lingered within the Temple, but had already gone back as though it felt strange to already leave it all behind. Regardless, here he was, and though he would not delve into Legion secrets with a stranger, he offered them this, “I am unsure if we are to claim victory, but just know you are to live another day for efforts warranted through this night.” That likely would not give any sane person peace, but Eino offered it all the same, knowing that even though Dumat had - likely temporarily - fallen, that Lusacan was still coming up quick behind her.
At times, Raven felt it was best to mind her own business -- when she felt like poking for answers would lead to the glint of a knife being drawn and yet, there was a part within her that wanted to know the tea. That wanted to understand the horrors so she could draw the cloak of protection around herself further. She had stolen from a dragon, had seen the beast in all it's glory and was told to answer for her crimes.. to provide a better jewel that the garnet she offered and she couldn't help but want to know what posed a threat out in Taravell, especially if she was to aid Avalon in their battle. "Shucks, thank you." Her voice wrapped in irony and although her words might seem lofty, her eyes were searching and sincere. "I thought the only one that was ensuring I live another day was myself. That's why you look like you've faced hell? Helping to save the world and be a hero?" A brow arched and the word hero sounds dirty in her mouth.
If there was any chance of finding any leftover Kossith artifacts or armor that might help her in fighting off darkspawn to the South, it was in Haven. Alessia had been curious enough at the prospect to take a portal to the Wildlands from home in the city and inquire about it. No success, but her recent dream with Freydis inspired Alessia to seek out the companionable woods near Iskaldrik for a stroll before she returned home. It would be her last taste of peace before heading into the cradle of war. She walked, her head uncharacteristically full of thoughts of the past and daydreams in the safety and quiet between the trees. Even distracted, it was exceptionally rare that Alessia was ever caught off guard...
But the unexpected sight at the flickering magical border roused her, and kept her from realizing the body that had been near her the entire time - and was now beside her. Alessia jumped slightly, hand instinctively going for her waist daggers before she stopped. "You... you saw that too?" So, it wasn't a manifestation of Alessia's own nostalgia and trauma? Good and bad news. "Fuck," she whispered. She gazed back at where they'd both seen the flicker, not yet gaining any recognition for the woman beside her - she was too focused on the border. "... That's the border to Iskaldrik. The Witchers- they closed it."
Raven was on the verge of finding a home within Eterna, with a boy who loved her and had entered into the trials of soul bonding together. She never stopped missing her parents, from the minute they were taken from her by a field in Iskaldrik by Witchers who had learned of her mother's elvhen blood and the human man who dared to love her. It was why she travelled back to Iskaldrik as much as she did, why she was there when her homeland was seized as it would have been much easier to stay in Lysara and fulfill the hidden ones and thieves guild missions from there.
It was why she was there in the Wildlands that day when the barrier shuddered as if near breaking, watching from the tree line and thinking of her parents who she feared did not escape the mines not as she hoped, as she had been saved on the Kossith ship by Kuno and she hadn't turned back to rescue her parents as she should have. "The Aetheron's cast the magical barrier to keep us out." Her words are gritted through her teeth, hope is a dangerous thing and it feels as if fingers pressing on a bruise. "I will kill those bastards the first chance I get."
A brow is raised, and a second one follows as she hears the faiman’s offer. Still, she doesn’t dismiss it out of hand. Instead, she narrows her eyes and examines her closely, considering her options. It is impossible to recognize a high faiman at a glance, their ability to enter Avalon only known through their lineage. Shenuvun does not know Raven’s elvhen parent, does not know if she could cross the eluvian… But if she can? Any help offered will be taken.
“We will need many capable of killing in the coming days,” she admits slowly, thoughtfully, as her eyes flicker in the direction of the eluvian and back towards the faiman. “And I am sure we would welcome you along our numbers, but I must warn you that this is likely a fight to the death. Furthermore, I am not sure that you will be able to cross the eluvian, even if you want to offer your help.”
Raven does not know about the limitations of the Moongate and how only the high elvhen can enter, she has spent a long time stuck on survival and trying to secure enough coin to get enough food to eat. She has lived like a wild thing, wrapped in cons and robberies on the highway and she knows that she can't go home and so she is trying to honor her parents and her people that still remain.
"The ability to paralyze has made me into a weapon, my magic has ensure that I am still here today and if I can help save Avalon, I want to fight. Death has never scared me and it's not going to start now." Kuno's face flashes in her mind and she feels guilt in the pit of her stomach, she never had anyone to come home too and Bojangles squawks in the trees, shifting on crow feet as an angry stomp. "I want to try, there's no harm in it. If I can't enter, at least I'll know and won't lose anything I never had."

He'd come a long way, from fighting over scraps in an orphanage to owning his own place, his kitchen stocked with food. Kuno knew he should feel grateful - and proud - but somehow, everything he'd achieved felt hollow without someone to share it with. He was always happier with a partner, with someone to take care of, and in that way, the orphanage felt less lonely.
Of course, Raven was here now. It was impossible for him to tune out the noises of her wandering around in the other room, wondering if she was comfortable. Happy. Deep in his heart, he wanted to share all of this with her, even if he didn't have much. Except, he didn't even know how long he had with her here. Was she planning to stay for a night? For a week? Forever? Kuno quickly dismissed the thought. He didn't want to get his hopes up, not when he'd finally finished rebuilding them up from scratch.
Instead, he busied himself with dishes, his sleeves rolled up and hands deep in soapy water when Raven found her way into his kitchen. Kuno froze for a moment, lips parted as he debated what to say. Her voice had been so gentle, and he liked to think it was a tone she reserved only for him. Quietly, he turned off the water and dried his hands, sticking them in his pockets as he finally spoke, "I do love her. Of course I love her. Part of me probably always will." He shrugged, as if he'd finally accepted his own, painful fate. "But I can't be in love with someone who's not even here."
Kuno took a couple of steps foward, moving only slightly closer, unsure if his words were helping or hurting her. But they were ones he needed to say, regardless. "But you're still here, for some reason that I haven't quite figured out yet." He chuckled and scratched the back of his head, grateful for whatever was keeping her around, even if it was only for a little while. "Feel free to enlighten me, if you want."
"You know why I'm here." her gaze does not break, a look of everything that is unsaid between them in her eyes and she greeted him with a kiss upon seeing him. Had kissed Kuno every time she saw him, and brought him a pack of cards from a mission revealing that she thought of him when she was not with him which she was a selfish creature and believed connections could only place her in danger.
There has been an intense connection building between them for a long time that had finally come to a head upon the Kossith ship when she placed every raw emotion and desire that she had for him into a kiss that was their first and for all she knew, their last. Somehow he had broken past all her defenses and she had a dragon as an enemy and yet that which scared her the most was a human man who stood in front of her with gentle eyes and battle scarred hands.
She is not flinching away from the strong tether that has formed between them, the red string of fate that ties the two together and yet she is not brave enough to put into words as to why she keeps coming back, why she can't get him out of her veins and how she thinks of him more than she'd care to admit as he tells her he still loves his dead and buried wife.
"Say the words and I'll go." He is light, a smile dancing upon his lips and yet she is a dark storm of intensity, a strange creature to keep and more feral than girl and yet this is where she wants to stay, she wants him and whatever may come with him. At the core, she just wants Kuno and there is no denying that want when it threatens to eclipse everything else within her.
It’s always amusing to see mainlanders try to find their rhythm in Caribella. To many, the island was nothing but an exotic location, despite the many many many rumors letting them know it was ill-advised to visit as a vacation. There is always something that gives them away, too. Be it the way they talk, or the way they walk. Most pirates had learned the cant of their steps on the open ocean, or had gotten used to it through the years, so there was something identifiable about the whole thing. The woman sitting next to her, has the little qualities that set her apart from the other people in the room, so Valdís keeps a close, and amused, eye on her as she drinks her beer. When she is addressed, she shrugs.
“We are trying to figure it out,” she says lazily. “Pretty sure the island is haunted or something.”
Raven was a transient, having to stay on the move so her crimes did not catch up to her. She was born in Iskaldrik and had haunted the highways of Lysara where the wealthy merchants travelled to pillage passing coaches and carriages. Yet she rarely travelled to Caribella, having visited once before on a Thieves Guild mission and it was why she returned once more as she wanted far away from the life she knew. Her and Kuno had finally given shape to the love and devotion they felt for each in the breath of souls trials and the barrier that surrounded Iskaldrik was faltering and she wasn't ready to face the emotions that lived within her and scared her, finally knowing what chains felt like because of the Kossith and fearing her parents had been subjected to an even crueler fate than she had once believed.
"Plenty of bodies hidden here?" She arched a brow but a grin of amusement touched her lips. "Enough to conjure a ghost?"
