"Wizard Blast"

My third and final attack of the year, @baysee's character The Wizard. It was truly a delight to draw her.

I wanted to channel the intensity and sheer dramatic indulgence of those 70's wizard paintings, especially through the posing and vibrant color choices. In the end I had the most fun rendering the cloud cover-- I found the challenge of implying illuminated cloud interiors thrilling.

"Campfire Aside"

second attack of the year, this time @duskgryphon's Old Man Jo.

Conceptualizing this piece, the idea I had in mind was Jo relaxing off the clock around the campfire, listening in on one of his coworkers saying something ridiculous/absurd. Getting the pose and the angle of his face right was a real struggle, but in the end I really liked how the implied moonlight in the green-purple shadows contrasted with the warm oranges and reds of the firelight.
