Download and write the latest Raspian image to a SD-card:
http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads
sudo dd if=[img-file] of=[/dev/diskX]
Set up Wireless:
Edit wlan0 in /etc/network/interfaces to be dhcp and use wpa_supplicant:
allow-hotplug wlan0 iface wlan0 inet dhcp wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf iface default inet dhcp
Create or edit /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf with network settings:
update_config=1 network={  ssid=”MyWLAN”  psk=”mysecretpasswd”  proto=RSN  key_mgmt=WPA-PSK  pairwise=CCMP TKIP  group=CCMP TKIP }
You might have to do a sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
Update Raspian when booted and raspi-config is set up.
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade
To get jack out sound as default if the RPI is connected to a HDMI monitor:
sudo amixer cset numid=3Â 1
Synchronize the time (for Curl/SSL to function properly with certificates)
sudo apt-get install ntpdate sudo ntpdate -u ntp.ubuntu.com
Update the firmware:
sudo rpi-update
