Your mother raised you to bite your tongue when a man talks to you disrespectfully. Fear in your eyes when you can’t figure out if he’s grabbing for a weapon in his pocket or if he’s just genuinely nervous. The older you get the more horror stories you hear of girls your age falling from grace. Gorgeous smiles and bright eyes turn dim. Loud and adventurous turns to timid and rough around the edges. 
Your father taught you that men are weak. They prey on the idea of power through manipulation. An unrealistic approach to seem like they are in control.
