Genuinely thinking about Leviticus and I wanna talk about some things that did stand out to me, one of these is a bit silly:P.
(Mainly about Ryan..)
We never actually got to see any representation on how Ryan and his parents interact, yes we do see them in the film but we have no idea how they interact. We hear one off comment about Ryan’s dad (? Might be wrong there.) before he has the ritual done by the deliverance healer, but that’s about it. After Ryan is outed we see a short clip of him exiting a car, his father going inside almost instantly, while his mother stands there for a moment, both of them looking at each other. I’d like to make a guess and say that Ryan’s relationship with his parents isn’t the most positive? Especially after he got outed, also seeing the way he acts. He’s closed off and doesn’t ever have outbursts of anger, signs of I don’t know?? Shitty relationship with his parents? Again I could just be reading into things because I loved Ryan and wish we got more of him.
RYAN HAS A FUCKING COCKATOO!!!!!!! This is my favourite thing ever, we see the bird twice in the film when Naim does his little sneak around and sees Ryan interacting with Hunter and then later on entity Naim, we see it in a bird cage. No, I do not think this holds any value to the film I just find it so interesting that out of all the pets he has a cockatoo. Giggling typing this out because I love him having a cockatoo.
I know that this is probably a given but like the way the entity fucks right off around fire, I love how it’s CLEARLY the weakness but unlike other films, Naim never goes out and is like… “guys! I know it’s weakness!🥺”. I just love that Naim doesn’t fuck around, figures out it’s sensitive to fire and is like alright mate we’re doing this shit. Like, yeah I mean fire hurts like a bitch take it from someone who had a lighter to the knee, YEOWCH! I find it so cool how it referenced back to the ritual and how the fire is what took them.
Also, if anyone could transcribe what the deliverance healer was saying during the ritual when it came to with the lighter I’d be interested to go through that and see what its underlying meaning is. If there is one.. I tried getting it on my rewatch but I couldn’t because there’s just so much going on and those scenes make me so sad.
