Honestly if Beemoov wanted more money they should have just made merch for both versions of the game. I am more incline to buy merch for a game than I am to pay just to continue a game.
The odd thing is that they do have some merchandise for their games (MCL and Eldarya more specifically).
Well, had, since the shops are quite empty for now.
This makes me wonder: what if the merchs hadn’t been that much profitable for them?
Beemoov is not that big of a studio, I wonder if they realized that the cost/revenue ratio of character figures and artbooks weren’t enough to keep going this way.
Maybe they should try to sell “cheaper” merchandise (for both them and us), such as different keychains, badges, etc? Smaller artbooks? High quality illustrations on photo paper?
I would definitely be happy if they did because, just like you, I prefer paying for merch. If only because it’s material.

What do you think about a modification in the APs system like: instead of each phrase being 2AP, the whole conversation being 5AP or something like this? For me it's a lot more fair, it'd be more easy to finish the episodes and, at least for me, it would just increase my will to pay for more.
While the idea isattractive, it wouldn’t be viable in this state for Beemoov.
There are about 20conversations (including ~5 monologues) in UL Episode 1, which wouldmake the total cost of an episode 100 AP.
Even if it was somethinglike 40 AP for dialogues and 20 AP for monologues, which would makethe episode roughly 700 AP (~35 days now), it would still be low fortheir standards (~50/60 days/episode for the original MCL).
I also think that theproblem isn’t inherently the fact that you pay for each line, butrather the overall cost of episodes and the balance between theireconomical choices.
MCL’s strong point was allowing players to save AP by connecting everyday and then play the episodes in one go when they came out.
On the contrary, many mobile otome games like the Is it Love series give you a bigger amount of AP per day but you can’t save them, you must play daily.
In University Life, theytried to find a “middle” ground: giving players more AP, butnot that much, and letting them save AP, but not enough for oneepisode…
To me, they haven’tfound the balance where both players and developers are satisfiedyet. That’s what they shouldfocus on.
And they should really consider using beta testers not only to track bugsbut also test out these kind of features. Getting feedback on newelements and functionalities is also (if not mainly) what betas arefor.
Iwas disappointed when I saw that nowhere had they planned a “Giveyour feedback!” message or questionary.
when do you think they will announce the change? if there is any. I'm getting impatient and so do other players I thought they would have come up with something by now or at least a date something
If there is indeed a change, it will most likely be before the next episode’s release. Hard to say exactly when.
I am also quite impatient, especially as this is not the only issue I have with the game right now, but I’d rather have them take their time and do something good than rush things.
They’re probably trying to find a solution that would please players without impacting their financial plans/situation, which is why they still haven’t given us more information.
Do you think there’s still hope for them changing the AP system back to the old one (or to a better version of the current one) and removing the limit? Could it be one of the changes they’re doing? I saw lots of people complaining about it, just as much as about the routes
I really doubt they’ll just revert to the old AP system, but there is definitely hope for them to change the current one, even if their message about it is still quite vague.
If not removing the limit, they could at least increase it to 1500/2000 to make sure that everyone can finish an episode in one go.
Or change the number of AP required to finish an episode, for example by making so that dialogue choices cost 1 AP instead of 2.
Hi! I don’t know if you saw it, but I tagged you and some more people in a post I made, because I sent Beemoov feedback about the new AP system. If you see it, could you please rt to spread it? So many are complaining about the AP in the game and I think it’d be good to send them emails so that they hopefully change it. Thank you so much 💖
Hi! I’m sorry it took so long to answer you!
I think you were right to tell people to contact Beemoov directly. I also sent them a mail and I was glad to see so many comments/posts on FB/forums about the problem.
This is probably thanks to this movement that they posted the FB post where they say they’ll discuss the new system (and maybe even change it).
Because of said post the situation has changed a little, but I still mentioned you in my post on the AP/$ system because we’re still not sure we’ll get the answers and changes we hope for.
Thank you for taking the time to send such detailed feedback to Beemoov. 💖

Not only because of how it was done, but also how it was announced, and what it means for Beemoov or the players.
I would like to offer a study of the problem as thorough and exhaustive as possible.
Feel free to skip to parts that interest you more.
First, what exactly is the new AP/$ system?
Why did they change the AP/$ system?
Beemoov gave us one main answer:
Players have complained about not finding character/objectives for years. I actually think this is a good change...
... As long as dialogues are all relevant. Endless monologues, as seen in the first few episodes, are not relevant - and that's just one of the many things players will now pay more attention about.
The writing team must pay more attention to the dialogues than ever. Every line should be as meaningful as possible. So far, I think they have room for improvement.
And there is a little problem with what was said right afterwards.
There is no direct relation between the 1000 AP/$ limitation and other changes. Nothing that justifies it. They never adress the real problem which is, probably, the following: they need money.
I would like to say something about free-to-play games.
On average, only about 2% of their users pay, and 0.20% of paying users make for half of the total revenues.
We don't know the numbers for MCL/Eldarya (and I haven't found researches specifically on otome games), but maybe they saw their revenues drop for the past few months and tried to find a way to change the situation.
This could also explain why they tried to "renew" the game with University Life.
But whether they had "no choice" or not, whether the system is abusive or not, I think players deserve more useful, honest answers.
And there are other ways to change a game to make it more profitable.
Could they change the new system?
Technically, yes. At least part of it.
Anything that only requires changing numbers is doable:
Raising the AP/$ limit.
Lowering the AP cost of choices.
Increasing the number of AP gained per day.
Will they?
They at least seem to be taking the complaints in consideration.
However, if the new system works for the (silent) majority and gets them more money, they might not... but after such a message, I would expect they at least change something (for exemple costs of future episodes).
We will have to wait for their decision.
If they don't change it after all this... what can we do?
Keep talking about it, avoid paying, write messages to Beemoov’s support as @ourvelvetpetals already did for example.
Also, here are a few personal ideas to make the most of this new system without paying:
Replay MCL episodes when you reach 1000 AP/$.
Don't spend all of it, only little by little, especially if a new UL episode is to be released soon.
When playing UL episodes, try to stop when you spent 500/700 AP.
Find a moment where nothing important happens. Wait until you get 1000 AP again then keep playing.
Since they know the free limit is 1000 AP, they might put important events exactly when you would have spent all your AP, to make you want to buy some more.
This post was quite long, so thanks for taking the time to read it!
Let's see how Beemoov reacts to the community's pleas.
Dommage.
I read everywhere that many players had trouble getting the illustrations of Priya and Hyun in episode 2. After playing you think you don’t get the outfits of these episodes in time, you get the outfits after having missed the illustration. So chronologically something is wrong. You thought it was a bug but no it wasn’t.
This is not a bug, not a problem of affinities with these characters, not about the dialogues. The trick is more vicious. These images can only be obtained if you own the outfits, and these outfits are obtained BEFORE these illustrations only if you choose to go shopping with Alex and Rosa rather than meet Clémence. For these illustrations, you need to put the priority on the outing with Rosa and Alex. You must say that you make an appointment with Clemence later. If you don’t do this, then you meet Clemence first and you’ll not have bought the outfits in time. It’s all about timing !
Please pass the information, many players miss the illustrations because of that! They think it’s a bug and it’s not a bug. With the new AP system, making replays has become too expensive and everyone cannot do it. Too bad.
(sorry for my mistakes, my english needs to be improved.)
When beemoov thinks of all the money spent in replays for these fucking illustrations.
Because we aren’t used to this system. Before, we buying the right outfit and THEN we had the illustration. Systematically. In this episode if you don’t buy your outfits at the right time you have no illustration. It’s not about dialogues anymore. It annoys me, a lot. The episodes are more expensive and the illustrations are more difficult to have. WHYYYYYY?
Everything is thought to make replays.
And now we know that replays = bank.
BEEMOOV… I THINK IT WITH ALL MY HEART : GO TO HELL. THANKS
Thanks @lvalendra for making this post and telling me about it.
If true, this is absolutely dreadful.
Chosing to go with Rosalya and Alexy instead of doing Clemence’s test isn’t even the most logical choice. Particularly if you want Hyun’s illustration.
I just can’t believe they would decide to do this.
And there is still something strange about the illustrations. When my friend replayed the episode, she got both Hyun and Priya's illustrations, even if she had only bought Hyun's clothes. Maybe there really is something wrong/buggy with their episode?
Still, it's very frustrating to end up with this kind of situation...
I have been reading a little about the illustrations in chapter 2. Some players says that if you get Hyun illu, you can't get the Priya illu. The same for the siblings, if you don't get the Amber's you won't get the illustration of Nathaniel. Do you know if it's true? It seems weird ...
I wanted to answer you in more detail after finishing episode 2 and gathering more information about the illustrations, but so far I have read very contradictory things.
I also came across what I think is a bug touching (at least) Hyun & Priya’s illustrations (see here). Apparently I’m not the only one concerned.
The strange thing is that on the Hyun & Priya illustrations, Candy wears different clothes so not being able to get both of them could make sense… but we only get to chose said clothes later on. This might be the origin of the bug?
For now, we probably lack information.
I contacted Beemoov’s support about the (supposed) bug. If they answer me something useful, I will report it here.
Yeah I got that damn illustration bug too... First I was like wt*??!! And I've managed to get Priya's illustration in another server and I'm sure I made the same choices in the one I didn't get it. So what I did next was to try again and still didn't get it.. This is so damn annoying! Thanks Beemoov for making me waste several AP's for nothing..
I agree, it’s very annoying… I never had any problem getting an illustration before.
I sent a message to Beemoov’s support explaining the bug. I can only advise you to do the same, so they see that several people are concerned.
I think you have to have a certain LOM to get their illustrations. I had 55 with Hyun when I got his illustration but I didn't get priyas cause I only had 20. Thats what I heard so I'm not so sure.
I can confirm that there is indeed a minimum LoM to get (at least some) illustrations.
The problem, in my case, is that I had max LoM with Priya (and while I missed one +5 with Hyun, but so did my friend who got the illustrations during her replay).
The inconsistency in obtaining the illustrations makes me think it is a bug.

Since I didn’t have time to play MCLUL Episode 2 during the week (I stalk tumblr/youtube anyway), I tried playing it today and I was... upset/disappointed.
Indeed, I didn’t get Hyun & Priya’s illustrations.
And I was following not one, but several guides.
I believe it’s a bug.
Indeed, I checked Tumblr/others websites. It appears I am not the only one concerned. To know a bit more, please read below.
A friend of mine got the illustrations. She made the very same choices and had the same LoM with these characters.
But she got the illustrations during a replay only...
... so she had already bought the clothes you see on them, for example.
We fear this might related, and a bug.
We also had a different “Crush” (”Coup de Coeur”), but other players who had “Nathaniel” or “no one” as Crush had the same problem.
And if it’s not a bug... does it mean that you have to replay to get these illustrations? Or do you have to change your crush for each illustration? I doubt Beemoov would have done something like that...
Can those of you who played Episode 2 tell me if you came across a similar problem?
Thanks everyone for your input!
Note: I stopped playing after Priya’s illustration because I would like to avoid losing AP for nothing. I don’t know if Rayan/Amber/Nathaniel’s illustrations are also concerned.
(@chinomiko, I mention you in this post because I genuinely believe (and hope) this is a bug that concerns a certain number of players. If you come across this message and can report the bug directly to the person responsible, it would be great. Thanks in advance!)
Just a small post for all the people/anons who sent me asks about MCL/UL.
I have been extremely busy this week so I couldn’t answer as much as I wanted to (particularly complex/long asks) but I will focus on them this weekend.
So, I was thinking about creating myself a new mcl account on another server since theorically you can't have more than one account per server (and I already have two on the Spanish server lol), and I wanted your opinion: as I speak both French and English (even though I understand better English), would you recommend me the French server or the English one? Thank you very much!! (ps: I love your page!! Thank you for all your content ^^)
I would recommend the french server because:
The developers are french (nice for support, maintenance, etc).
The game is written in french (original words and sentences).
The translation is not so good (mistakes, changes in meaning).
However if you really want to understand everything you play, the english server would also be a great choice!

My candy love isn't working for me. It keeps saying "403 Forbidden nginx" Does it still work for you?
It never worked for me so far. Apparently some people managed to connect for a few minutes but it wasn’t stable (and the app worked better than the website).
According to what they wrote on the french facebook, some elements aren’t ready yet. It took them more time than they usually planned.
They are working on it so that player have the best experience possible when they end the maintenance.
I’m not exactly surprised, considering the number of changes they have to make.
