Jamerian and Travis did nothing wrong, they and the nearby kids were the ones in danger, yet tragically it’s these 2 men that suffered the consequences of Devin Power’s heinous actions. Absolutely disgusting
Said it before, and I'll say it again: nothing makes white people rethink and argue against a law faster than when a Black person uses it to their advantage correctly—meaning just as a white person would use it against a Black person.
How many times has an unarmed Black victim been retreating from a white assailant, still been shot dead, and Stand Your Ground was still successfully applied despite being the very argument the judge is now going off of to deny these men freedom?
Notice how the argument makes sense now after reversing roles, even though the now deceased perpetrator was still armed.
These Black men are on trial to serve as an example because white people have once again fucked around and found out that Black people aren't as dumb and compliant as they thought, and are once again turning their own bullshit against them. Now they are shitting and falling all over themselves to stem the bleeding.
If they don't put these Black men through hell for their (clearly justified) actions, it would send a message to other Black people that they can easily blow a white person away when they start to channel their inner white supremacists, with no consequences.
Essentially fueling a surge of Black people arming themselves and white people being struck down in droves for their racist behavior.
It's a lot harder to keep white supremacy alive or play KKK when every attempt is basically a game of Russian Roulette.
