obv people do believe women can't abuse women, I've definitely heard this mentality applied to real situations before, but the reason "toxic yuri" isn't acknowledged as real abuse is because they're fictional characters. most intense relationships that make for good stories are abuse dynamics because fiction is a good way to explore intense emotion and abuse. I see this take all the time and it's like yeah killing each other in real life is wrong but this is actually a story and people aren't here to make really obvious moral observations abt it, that's a surface level reading. don't know what situation that anon was talking abt but this is a common sentiment and I'm sure sexism plays a part in people's reading of abusive dynamics in women's relationships, but people who actually like these stories are there for those relationships and the fact it'd be abusive in real life is just so much a given it's off topic.
