starting the semester off right
hey everyone! so because the start of second semester is right around the corner, i decided to put together a list of tips for starting your return from break right, because if you’re anything like me you’ve really got to pull your shit together!!
1) get organized: sort through old papers and determine whether you need them, rewrite//arrange notes, fix up your desk/study area, clean your room, etc. (see these masterposts for more help on organization: x, x, & x
2) if you don’t already, start tracking things. use a bullet journal or a planner to keep track of assignments and due dates, events, expenses, etc. for info on bullet journals, you can check out their main website and this masterpost by @areistotle
3) establish a positive relationship with professors/teachers. introduce yourself, participate during class, and ask questions. they’ll appreciate it and you’ll benefit from not only actively learning, but if you forget about a project they’ll probably be more lenient about giving you an extension than someone who’s been sulking in the back of the class!!
4) start or re-establish good habits like waking up/going to bed at the same time every day, drinking enough water, doing your laundry, cleaning your room, setting aside time to study, and giving yourself free time. (5 scientific ways to build good habits)
5) set goals for yourself. so you want an a in biology this semester? make a plan, figure out the steps, and do it!! (info on smart goals + a guide to goal setting)
6) do what you can before break ends. don’t save that project because it’s due in a month, do it now and use that time that you would be spending on it during the school year to revise.
7) make sure to give yourself time off. everyone needs to set aside time for themselves :) for more ideas on stress relievers, see this, this, and my personal favorite stress reliever, lush bath bombs !!
