I watched the movie "The Blind Side" couple of times today. It's funny because this movie was more than a decade old but I've only seen it just now. This movie follows the real life story of the NFL football Superstar Michael Oher.  Michael came from a family trapped in poverty, drug addiction and hopelessness. Because of his poor situation, he was passed on to different foster homes and eventually became a homeless child. One faithful night, a miracle shines down on him when he was spotted by an affluent family and took him in. A black boy, adopted by a white family? this was really something else. He was a very lucky boy. He was loved. This served as a door to him. A door of opportunities opened up to him. With the help from his adoptive family, the Touhys, he was able to receive formal private education which eventually given him a chance to play football. Later, he became famous. So famous that 50+ colleges wanted him on their school so badly. But he needed to land a minimum 2.52 gpa in academics to earn scholarships to gain entry. He worked hard, studied hard. Soon, his efforts paid off when he graduated from high school and met the required gpa grade. He was in! Then, He was drafted by the Ravens in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft. He played college football at the University of Mississippi for the Ole Miss Rebels. He soon became one of the highest paid NFL offensive tackle superstars. Michael Oher authored the book "I beat the Odds", Sharing untold stories of heartache, determination, courage, and love, I Beat the Odds is an incredibly rousing tale of one young man's quest to achieve the American dream. Michael Oher's story taught us two valuable lessons: 1. To have compassion - his adoptive family gave him a door of opportunity, one that only Michael needed to achieve his dreams. If it's not because of them, who knows where will Michael end up to, in prison? Hardened criminal? Or worst dead. Because of their kind, loving, compassionate heart, they've changed Michael's fate. 2. Don't waste an opportunity that was given to you and be grateful for it for the chance to become better. #inspiration #raeminspires #instadaily https://www.instagram.com/p/CQNp1AWHAhY/?utm_medium=tumblr
