the grim reality for a lot of nonbinary people is that their options are closet themselves and be perpetually misunderstood by the world at large or be out and proud and be perpetually misunderstood by the world at large
#hahaha. yeah.#I have experienced much grief over the fact that not being understood or accounted for most of the time is just a part of my life#that most people are never truly going to understand this part of me#that even my closest loved ones and fellow queer and trans and even nonbinary people will staple gender and gendered attributes onto me#I love being nonbinary and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I've experienced fulfillment in my sense of self that I never thought possible#when it's just me and the people I can count on one hand who have never shoved gendered terminology in my face#I feel fulfilled. I feel whole. I feel wholly and truly like me.#and most of the time out and about in the world I can feel secure enough in myself to take the lack of understanding on the chin#but sometimes. sometimes that grief hits hard.
