Rachel Han is searching to find herself again. She was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. She was raised by two heads of surgery which meant that she spent a lot of her childhood taking care of herself. She is a hard worker, and made her way through school determined and with a passion for journalism. Her big dream came true when she got accepted to NYU for journalism. She moved to New York and fell in love with it. Rachel relaxed a little her Bostonian hardness starting to unwind the longer she lived in New York.
She met the love of her life at 24. She was living in Albany and met him through her close friend and they clicked and she thought the rest would be history. The moved back to Boston together after she got the role she always wanted a position as an investigative reporter at The Boston Globe. Everything was coming into place and it stayed that way for quite some time until everything came crashing down. The first thing was the idea of starting a family had always been a goal of Rachel's however an annual visit to the OBGYN showed that she was living with Stage 2 Ovarian Cancer. There weren't many options other than surgery. Though she knew she could start a family other ways she was devastated with the loss and with it the distance between her and her husband grew.
Though extremely misguided, she divorced him in thoughts that he should still have a family even if it wasn't for her. The loss of him only devastated her more. Among other things her job no longer felt like it was the best for her. She needed a clean break and she felt the best thing to do was to move back to New York. An old friend of hers had an opportunity for her to ghost write her memoir and she took the opportunity. It changed everything. Although Rachel writes an occasional op-ed when asked for it, she has taken on a new career as a writer. Perhaps it's about time she help share her own story.
While she was getting more involved with promoting her new book and finding herself in a new circle of people; events unfolded that could not be ignored. She was finding herself having questions that couldn't be answered without diving deeper. Her investigative skills led her down the rabbit hole that opened to the gang network. Finding out information was difficult but perseverance got her down to deals that she had no business knowing about. That's when someone took note of her movements. Imani Kline. She made an offer to Rachel; making it known that in this world The Contingency took no sides but helped gather information. Even though Rachel had left the investigative journalism world behind when she moved to New York. There was something in the excitement of it and the danger of it that Rachel just can't get enough of it.
