Hari Singh Nalwa Painting - source
Origins of Hari Singh Nalwa - Rough Animatic - Rabir SinghΒ
Color Tests

This short has a lot elements I want to include in my senior project, especially the cuts. In the minute I chose, the main characters set out on their voyage with fairly small animation, there was more of a focus on the environment and not that much of expressive animation in the movement. That's how I want to do the first half of my project. By setting up the environment and building the relationship between my characters as well. The action sequences were also dynamic with lots of switches of angles that I really liked, playing around with the angles of the camera as well.

Possible Story Splines
Once upon a time: a young talented boy showed skill in combat and strategy
And everyday: He would train and hone his skills
Until one day: He decided to leave homeΒ
And because of that: He joined the Sikh army
And because of that: He was recognized by leader of the Sikhs at the time
And because of that (continue as needed): He was invited out to hunt with them
---> They ran into a tiger and they fought
Until finally: single handedly the 14 year old boy won barehanded
And since that day: He was given the name Nalwa which means lion-ripper
And the moral of the story is: hardwork and perseverance pays off
Once upon a time: A boy was living in the palace of the Sikh leader
And everyday: he would prove to be more than just a child
Until one day: the leader of the Sikhs recognized him
And because of that: he took the boy on a hunt
And because of that: they were attacked by a tiger
And because of that (continue as needed): the boy was caught off guard and fought the tiger
Until finally: He beat the tiger barehanded
And since that day: He was given the name Nalwa and became a commander in the Sikh military
And the moral of the story is: hard work does not go unnoticed
Once upon a time: The Sikhs were building up their army
And everyday: Men and women would train and study
Until one day: a young boy showed up and outshined many
And because of that: He was shunned by many soldiers
And because of that: He tried harder to be a great warrior
And because of that (continue as needed): The Sikh leader noticed him and invited him out on a hunt
-- they were ambushed by a tiger
-- the boy was the first to respond, and without his weapons he fought
Until finally: he beat the tiger
And since that day: he worked closely with the Sikh leaders and was given the respect he deserved
And the moral of the story is: age is irrelevant to respect, don't underestimate anyone
Once upon a time: the Sikh army fought against the Afghani regime to reclaim Sikh territories
And everyday: warriors would fight against the prejudiceΒ
Until one day: a young boy decided to use his talents in service of the Sikh Empire
And because of that: he left home to train amongst the Sikh leaders
And because of that: he was recognized by the Sikh leader
And because of that (continue as needed): he was given a command of 800 Sikhs
-he was invited out on a hunt
-they were ambushed by a tiger, while on horseback
-the boy was the first and only one to respond quick enough and fought the tiger
Until finally: he won
And since that day: he joined the upper echelon of leaders and gained the name βlion-ripperβ
And the moral of the story is: the actions of others can inspire greatness of others
