I always feel more relaxed when I’m at my childhood home (which I’m very thankful that I can feel that way about it and my parents.) The oak trees are fern and moss covered; the woods seem endless and still hold so much magick...
Welcome to all the new witches that are here on tumblr.com!
A couple gentle but firm reminders:
Definitely do research and also exercise discernment. There might be contradictory information and there might be different theories of witchcraft that both might apply to different witches. There might be misleading information so take it with a grain of salt.
Unfortunately, even books need to be read with care since there are no credentials needed to write about witchcraft nor to self-publish.
Do not harass other witches for having different theories.
However, if you do find a witch who does believe in harmful or abusive beliefs like excluding other genders from witchcraft, threatening others for clout, putting a certain group of people above another due to a category such as race, for example, immediately block them. There is nothing valuable worth learning at the cost of your boundaries and human rights from another person.
Look into stuff like how to not culturally appropriate since this is a massive issue with many people disrespecting other cultures. Places to start researching include the words chakras, karma, golems, w*ndigo, blessed be, spirit animal, and smudging. These are what I can pick off the top of my head at the moment.
Please understand that the cultures that created these concepts and cherish them very dearly are being stomped over by random strangers who use them disrespectfully and wrongly. At worst, someone may be offended that they cannot misuse these words, but we cannot condone erasure of important people and cultures.
For essentials, make sure you know how to cleanse, ground and ward. If you cast spells without doing these basic and required things, you may experience unintended consequences like a malicious spirit drawn to your home by the scent of magic. Your spell might completely backfire simply because your tools weren't cleansed of any energies that might misdirect what you intended.
It'll be a strange journey, and you might even learn how to cast a powerful spell with no materials some day soon. You might gain the very cool skill of being able to process multiple sources efficiently and gleam information quickly. You might make friends with wonderful people and you might discover more of yourself.
(If you have questions too, my askbox is always open and I will respond at my own pace.)
Great Alternatives for White Sage!
Hey guys! So, this post is focused around the fact that White Sage is at risk due to over harvesting in the wild by people who do not understand its importance. Also, White Sage smudging originally was used by the Native people for sacred rituals and connections (from my understanding, please elaborate down below if you know more. Understanding and info is key!) and this precious plant has been taken from them and now has a chance of never returning.
So, heres a list of things you can use in REPLACEMENT of White Sage!
Black sage
Cedar wood
Mugwort
Rosemary (this plant can stand in place of any herbs youre missing!)
Wormwood
Mint(s)
Specific Herbs (herbs that can be used for specific needs, ie money loss, spirituality, etc)
Flowers (you can burn the petals, just be careful)
Please use other alternatives to White Sage, help it! If you can, grow it! Let it prosper!
If you follow my blog and believe that only women can be witches unfollow me right now.
It is not for you to be a gatekeeper. It is not for you to put down others trying to reconnect with nature, find personal power, and understand their place in the world.
Men can be witches. Transgender people can be witches. Non-binary people can be witches. People of any race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity can be witches. You can be a disabled witch. You can be a mentally-ill witch.
I understand that Dianic Wicca is a female path of Wicca, but that is one of countless paths taken in witchcraft.
If I met a male witch that does not believe in gender equality, I would be upset with him. The same goes for a female witch that wouldn’t offer equality to a man in a practice which is made up mostly by women.
I 100% believe in female empowerment, but I do not believe in any empowerment which occurs through the degradation of others. If you are a witch and believe this practice is only for women, you must have not learned one of the easiest lessons in witchcraft: everything in nature is powerful and magical and sacred, including humans.

self love potion
- 💫🌷🕊🌸🕯✨
this potion is great for invoking self love, healing, and calming; it allows you to become more patient and gentle with yourself, encouraging an environment of forgiveness and an inner sense of comfort.
you can pour some in a bath or use culinary grade ingredients and keep refrigerated to drink as a potion, you could keep a bottle by your nightstand, or gift a bottle to a friend/partner, and this would serve as a wonderful alter decor/offering for aphrodite or even fae, there’s plenty of ways to incorporate the potion into your craft!
- 🕊💫💗
[ what you’ll need; ]
- honey
communication, love, happiness, harmony, healing, abundance, forgiveness
- rose petals *
love, healing, relaxation, gentle thoughts and energies, confidence
- full moon water
power punch, intuition, mental clarity, comfort, healing
- pinch of sugar
wish granting, love, confidence, joy, turns negative self image sweet
- pinch of sea or pink salt [optional**]
love, calming, power punch, healing, regeneration, detoxification of negative energies or thought patterns
-
*for this potion pink or red rose petals would work best but i suppose you could use any! white is also a good option here
**if you don’t have sea/pink salt don’t worry about substituting it’s better to just leave it out at that point, its not for the salts protective qualities but for the calming & healing effect sea/pink salts have!
[ now what? ]
this one is super simple to put together, all you’ve gotta do is get everything in a pot and simmer it on crazy low heat (barely any action just enough to coerce the infusion together)
strain and bottle up! you alternately could brew it in a bottle on a windowsill perhaps but don’t leave it there too long it’ll go rancid! be careful!
-
as always feel free to ask any questions about the potion/process! i really love this potion and i hope you guys do too!
How to prep for MABON ‘20 -COVID19 edition
Hey my fellow witches! This year we have to rearrange our Mabon fest according to all the covid19 restrictions.
I’m going to share some tips and ideas to inspire you guys to prep for this holiday & celebrate in total safety. ♥️
First let me tell ya what Google says for us in the Northern hemisphere:
Mabon 2020 will begin on Monday, September 21 and ends on Tuesday, September 29.
Keep in mind that the most important days are Sep 21-23. Witches in the Southern hemisphere will celebrate around March 19-22 & bookmark this post to prep at their best;))
SO, let’s start this journey with the right foot IN ADVANCE. All the late witches out there yeah you heard me: IN ADVANCE. Make yourself ready BEFOREHAND. We’re going thru this together.
1. Thinking of a party? MAKE SURE WHOEVER IS CELEBRATING WITH YOU (except for close people you’ve always shared the same roof with) TESTS NEGATIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS. Force them to get tested, ESPECIALLY IF THEY WERE ON VACATION. No tests, no invitations. Be firm on this point. > anti-covid tip: always sanitize your hands and go get tested yourself first!
***I highly recommend to spend most of this sacred time all by yourself to minimize the risk of contracting the virus. We will party together once a good vaccine or an effective cure is out and globally accessible… Let’s wait😉
2. If you have a garden, and had planted some herbs/fruit/veggies before, go pick the results of the 2nd harvest and use them to cook delicious foods during Mabon! (Lammas is the 1st harvest, yep) > anti-covid tip: gardening is an outdoor hobby that allows you to keep social distancing & breathe fresh air
3. An Equinox is “equal”: re-establish balance in general. I’m talking about your overall ph, diet, work, feelings, home, social life… Don’t stress over useless activities, limit vices & excess, avoid fights, don’t hustle, don’t splurge, don’t push yourself in the gym, don’t let your home/room look like a junkyard, take good care of yourself, only be there for people who love you… Take this time of the year as a moment to re-gain harmony and equilibrium in all comfort. > anti-covid tip: reducing stress levels can improve your immune system
4. Apples are in season, so be creative with em! Use apples for multiple purposes, even for decorating your altar if you will. Snack on them, offer them, cook them, collect their seeds, whatever comes to your mind… > anti-covid tip: rinse your apples thoroughly, never share your apple while eating one + a healthy diet feat. apples can boost your immune system
5. Work with the element of EARTH. Here comes the spellwork my lovelies… Connect with your crystals, use herbs in your rituals, offer food, sit on the ground if you can, be out in nature, curate your garden, learn to cook, position your altar (or anything else) to the South (*Southern hemi: to the North), enhance your natural beauty, seek beauty in the simple things etc… > anti-covid tip: spending time away from the crowds does actually reduce the chances of getting infected
6. Stay hydrated, drink your water & treat yourself. Drink vegetable milk or tea to pamper yourself a little more than usual whenever you have a break (or a cozy spa night at home). I’m very into herbal teas and lemon/apple water atm, not the spicy ones tho (save them for Samhain & winter!). If you’re fully allowed to drink alcohol, sip a glass of Rosé (loads of good Pinot Noir rosé are out this season, but any rosé will do), Portuguese Tinto, or maybe Pinot Gris. As for beer, just stick to the one that you prefer or try lighter ones! *remember balance is key, drink responsibly or not at all* > anti-covid tip: never share your glass while drinking your beverages, make sure glasses & bottles are sanitized and clean
7. Get comfy within your body: love your figure, feel yourself, train your 5 senses, stretch a lot/practice yoga, look at yourself in the mirror, take selfies or photos of beautiful details, touch/massage yourself, take care of your hair, groom, apply body lotion and enjoy your earthly beauty. Mabon wants you to look bomb hun! > anti-covid tip: getting familiar with your own body can help you recognize any weird symptoms easily, as well as the smallest changes in your system… Be friendly to your body and it will thank you in so many ways later on!
8. Use a big jar to save money. A little sum everyday. Open the jar only after the sabbat of Samhain. Trust me, this month is crucial for saving money. Autumn is coming and we must prepare for all those transitional, unplanned expenses that we will have to face during the colder months. Remember to look at the jar everyday and speak some words of gratitude. Working with money, food and tangible stuff of any sort are also activities that are related to the element of Earth. > anti-covid tip: always wash your hands after handling money
9. ALWAYS PRIORITIZE YOUR SAFETY WITHOUT FEELING STUPID OR PARANOID. This way you’ll end up saving someone else’s life, believe it or not. Leave the d16Kheads say whatever they want to say & be strong. Clean your disposable/reusable mask with disinfectant, make sure you never forget it and please stay safe… but try to minimize the waste. Avoid crowded places as much as possible, prefer open venues with plenty of room for maintaining social distancing, avoid peak hours in shops/malls/supermarket/whatever, carry hand sanitizer with you, keep your distance especially from people who might show evident covid symptoms and remember to be kind to people! Oh and SMILE a lot: your mouth is hidden but your sweet eyes are OUT! 😉
Hope this post was helpful for all of you lovelies,

autistic witch tips!
🌻 use crystals, stones, or even bones, as fidget/stim toys! stones like labradorite are great for visual stimming, while tumbled crystals are real nice to rub. you can even do spellwork or rituals with the stones, or maybe paint them with sigils – whatever you choose, crystals are still a great fidget.
🌻 movement during meditation/prayer/etc is a lifesaver for me. I try to let my body flow and move and jerk however I please when I'm doing any form of magick. it makes me feel far more comfortable, and far more genuine.
🌻 incorporate your special interest into your practice! one of my special interests is snails, and I find ways to work them into my craft in many different forms.
🌻 schedule in time for your practice. sometimes it's hard to introduce a new thing into your routine. make physical time for it, and allow it to become part of your day.
🌻 cross reference your sources. it's easy to hyperfixate on one singular book or school of thought on witchcraft, especially if witchcraft had become a special interest. but the craft does not have to be rigid. explore many different sources on the same topic, and you will be more well rounded and perhaps more flexible.
🌻 don't be afraid to be a witch in your own way. you don't have to mask and copy and script other witches you see. do what feels good for you, and don't do anything that makes you uncomfortable.
September Self Care Challenge
The last few months have been hell for me y'all and there’s absolutely no sign of it letting up. The astrology for this year is pretty clear that it’s only looking to get more intense between now and part way through next year so I’m trying to focus on ways I can better ride this wave out. I realized other people might appreciate these challenges that I’ve created for myself so I decided to share them with all of you. Please take what is useful and leave the rest. Try as much of it as you can or as you want. I will say it would probably help to use a journal throughout this process or a planner. Whichever works for you!
The Routines
Given the astro weather and what’s going on in the world generally, now is a really good time to reexamine routines and solidify the helpful parts. I’ve been doing a lot of this lately and it’s been really impactful.
So one part of this challenge involves creating both a morning and evening routine that has at least one of item of maintenance self care, kindness self care, and reflection self care. Expression self care too if you can manage it.
So for instance maybe your AM routine would be:
Brush teeth + get dressed (maintenance)
Morning pages, TMS journaling, or a tarot challenge (reflection)
Make a nice cup of tea and read or listen to something (kindness)
And maybe your PM routine would be:
Brush teeth + wash face (maintenance)
Write about what happened that day (reflection)
Put on a diffuser and read of listen to something (kindness)
Try to stick to it more days than you don’t and that’s already a win.
I also like to anchor my routines around 123 and 321. In the morning, I like to write down
1 way I can give back to someone
2 things I want to get done
3 things I’m thankful for.
In the evening, I like to write down
3 things I accomplished
2 ways to improve
1 thing I’m proud of or thankful for
These could count as reflection if need be. I just find them really handy for starting off and finishing a day on a good note.
The Content
I’ve been feeling bombarded by content that stresses me out lately. I can tell it’s been taking a toll on my health. As a disabled person, I’ve had watch so many people, including family, suddenly decide COVID wasn’t worth worrying about while I remain in the same lockdown as ever because I haven’t stopped being high risk. It can be really overwhelming seeing how little folks care.
But I was recently introduced to the idea that instead of trying to scroll through the news less, it was more productive to focus on what I want to do more of instead. So I’ve cut back to reading a news roundup around midday and then focusing on completing the following challenge.
Read 5 new books
Watch 5 new films or documentaries
Listen to 5 new podcasts
Listen to 5 new albums
Create 5 new works
When I say new, I mean new to you. I’ve found that novelty helps keep my mind from wondering which is helpful in these times.
What work is is ultimately up to you. For me it will be mostly writing and embroidery this month. Maybe some knitting or crocheting. For you it could be creating a new art piece, learning a new song, taking and editing 5 new photos - whatever would really engage you in a meaningful way.
The Prompts
These are designed so that you can pull cards for these, journal through them, or both. So please do however many of these are actually helpful to you and then don’t sweat the rest. I wanted to include a tarot challenge as a way to help take care of one of the reflection categories for the routines and prompts deeper thinking on the theme.

Herbal Hair Rinse for healthy shiny hair and protection using an infused vinegar.
When I was a little girl, my grand mother use to rince my hair with a table spoon of pale cider vinegar diluted in a pitch of water. It made my hair so shiny and strong, I kept this tradition in my adulthood.
Now I have more knowledge in herbalism and witchcraft and I adapted the recipe to be even more effective.
This is a remedy to treat small ailments. Always consult with your GP before. This doesn’t replace any medication!
Herbal Hair Rinse for soothing the scalp, strengthen the hair and protection.
Ingredients:
1L raw organic apple cider vinegar.
½ cup dried chamomile.
½ cup dried lavender.
4 to 5 fresh rosemary sprigs (or ½ cup dried rosemary).
Equipment
1l Mason jar
Plastic lid for the mason jar (you can find some here https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=mason+jar+plastic+lid&crid=1JCPADG0E2V6O&sprefix=mason+jar+plastic%2Caps%2C157&ref=nb_sb_ss_organic-diversity_1_17
Muslin cloth to filter the vinegar
Herbalism
Apple cider vinegar for the hair: help remove buildup of hair products, help balance hair’s pH, clean the scalp, boost circulation, condition hair, soothe dry itchy scalp.
Chamomile: Soothes the scalp
Lavender: Increases circulation, promotes hair growth, calms inflammation, soothes scalp irritation
Rosemary: Increase scalp circulation, promotes hair growth, strengthen hairs, fights dandruff
Magical intent
Apple cider vinegar: Purification, protection
Chamomile: Purification
Lavender: Protection, purification
Rosemary: Protection, purification
Recipe:
Add all the dry ingredients in the mason jar
Fill up to the top with raw organic apple cider
Don’t use metal lid as it will be corroded by the vinegar!
Store in a dark cool cupboard for 6 to 8 weeks. You can be tempted to wait less, but the result will be a weaker vinegar.
Shake every couple of days
When ready, strain and compost the herbs.
The concentrated vinegar will store indefinitely but you’ll need to prepare the rinse before each wash.
Don’t use it more than twice a week.
Always label your jar with the date of creation and what’s inside!
Utilisation
Use a 500mL mason jar.
Add 2 table spoons of vinegar, fill up with water to the top.
Take your shower, wash your hair, then use the rince on your wet hair. Don’t rince your hair with water after!
Be careful to your eyes!
Rinse your shower after you’re done to remove any vinegar residue.
The rinse is really diluted, it doesn’t smell really strong. The smell will disappear when the hair will dry.
Also, it requires a long time of infusion so be mindful of the time frame when you are doing your next batch!

An early Mabon post
Hey everybody ! :) mabon may be a teensy bit away still but the days are passing fast and the day is slowly nearing! I wanted to make an informational and fun post telling some stuff about mabon and what you can do, movies to watch 🧡
What is Mabon?
Mabon is the autumn equinox dated for September 21-24 this year (2020). The autumnal equinox occurs when the sun crosses the equator on its apparent journey southward, and we experience a day and a night that are of equal duration. Up until Mabon, the hours of daylight have been greater than the hours from dusk to dawn. This is the time to look back not just on the past year, but also your life, and to plan for the future. It marks the middle of the harvest, Mabon is a time of rest and celebration, after the hard work of gathering the crops. Warm autumn days are followed by chill nights, as the Old Sun God returns to the embrace of the Goddess. All Sabbats are occasions to express gratitude to the God and Goddess for the blessings in our lives, but Mabon is particularly so, coming at the height of the harvest season.
How to celebrate Mabon
You can start by decorating your altar if you have one with acorns, pinecones, seasonal fruits and nuts, and some of the colored leaves that drop from the trees in your location. Baskets are good things to use and scythes since they are symbols of harvest. As for candles, autumn colors can be used such as reds, yellows, oranges, golds, and browns. If you have a feast, whether solo or with others, include seasonal vegetables like onions, potatoes, carrots and other root vegetables. Spellwork related to protection and security is appropriate now, as are workings for self-confidence, prosperity, harmony and balance. If you are one who struggles with seasonal depression during the fall and winter months, use this time to set an intention for inner peace and strength. You might make and charge a talisman for this purpose, to accompany you through the next two seasons. You can also do things that aren’t related to witchcraft if you feel unmotivated or don’t have the time. Cozy up and watch some appropriately themed movies maybe even some horror or Halloween movies, make some hot chocolate or a good cup of tea with appropriate herbs to settle down and drink, you can even do things like read or make some cool looking pieces of art to either put on your altar, use as decoration, or just because you want to.

I know there are a ton of recipes out there, but this one's mine. I put in a lot more lavender personally.
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cup water (here's an opportunity to use moon water for extra energy. Full moon water can boost the lavender correspondences for psychic awareness and love, while water charged in phases leading up to the new moon can boost lavender's ability to banish/protect from depression and anxiety)
- 4 tablespoons lavender- Peace/anti-anxiety, happiness, love, sleep, psychic awareness/ability, creativity, protection from ill treatment.
- purple food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
Warm the water and sugar, mixing till it dissolves, then add the lavender and mix well. When the water is boiling, lower it to simmer, cover, and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes. If you leave it for longer, it will become bitter. Then strain into a bottle, and THEN add the food coloring if you want. This syrup is not meant to be very thick, so that it mixes easily with cold drinks just as well as warm. If you want it to be thicker, add more sugar.

Witchcraft Things I Give You Permission To Do
Lay down while meditating. Seriously, if you have back pain like I do, try it. The experience is so much better.
Sit in a chair while working at an altar instead of on the ground. Again, pain. You’re allowed.
Enjoy something aesthetically without wanting to pursue it spiritually (be mindful of cultural appropriation obviously).
Enjoy something spiritually without pursuing it aesthetically. Your craft is your own.
Work hard to make your witchcraft look aesthetically appealing/post a lot about your journey.
Call yourself a witch instead of a baby witch.
Move at your own pace, whether it feel turtle-in-winter-slow or careening-off-the-freeway-fast.
Most importantly: Trust your own experiences. Even I struggle with this, but learning to acknowledge the breadth of your own power is terrifying and liberating. You have the power to affect change both physical and magical.
