“Knife!”

Hardy spins in the direction of Carl’s shout, and that slippery fucker Declan Fraser is right there, must have been hiding behind the skip. He’s been giving them the slip for a fucking week, and now they’ve finally got him cornered, Hardy isn’t keen to track him down again.

He grabs for Fraser, sidestepping the slash of the knife, but he’s misjudged his own reflexes, or his brain is stuck in a time when they fucking worked as they should. Finally progressing from crutches to a cane, and getting out into the field with Carl again has lulled him into a false sense that everything is back to normal. But he isn’t as quick on his feet as he once was, probably never will be.

Another slash of the knife, a tug at his right side, a pinch and drag. He looks down to see a gaping hole in his new coat as Fraser twists out of his reach.

Shame about the coat.

Stupid thing to think when he’s just been stabbed, but Donna bought it for him not two weeks ago. It’s warmer than his old coat, and he needs that warmth more than he once did, as if his damaged nerves let the cold in.

Then Fraser is gone and the knife is gone and he hits the ground hard on his left side. He’s lost his cane.

Noticed how most of my previous contributions to Qvember were light-hearted? (let’s not mention Soldier On). Yeah, that’s because all the darkness went in this one. And I’m kinda happy about it xD

Day 21 of Qvember! I had fun with this one, bit longer than my others, I was even tempted to keep writing (maybe in the future I'll do a part 2!) Mostly fluff again, a quick smut mention at the end but nothing too explicit today!
