Five years ago today, the White House glowed in rainbow colors.

For some, it was a political moment. For others, a cultural one. For many, it was something simpler: a reminder that the story of America keeps expanding, making room for people who once stood outside looking in.

Whatever your views, moments like this have a way of marking time. They become snapshots of where we were, what we valued, and what conversations were shaping the country.

Looking back, what stands out to me isn't the lighting. It's the idea behind it.

That a nation is strongest when more of its people can see themselves reflected in it.

History moves in fits and starts. People disagree. The pendulum swings. But every generation leaves a few images behind that tell a story about who we were trying to be.

This was one of them.
