john goes to get a flannel after sex and when he comes back, sherlock is stretched indolently over the bed, head tilted lazily to the side, eyes half-lidded as he watches john’s progress into the room. sherlock looks so enticing the way he melts into the mattress that john’s breath catches and he can’t take his eyes off him and when he gets back to the bed, he gently straddles sherlock along the tops of his thighs, carefully cleaning him off and then tossing the flannel aside and letting his hands slide slow and gentle up sherlock’s sides, luxuriating in the warmth of his skin. sherlock lies still and relaxed and pliant and watches john, still too sated to move, and john shifts forward. he brings one hand up to rest his fingers against sherlock’s cheek, watching reverently as sherlock’s lips curl into a small smile, and sherlock tilts his head towards john’s hand, closes his eyes, presses the ghost of a kiss against john’s fingers, and john leans down and kisses him, soft and chaste and intimate and slow, and then he stays close, lets his eyes trail over every feature of sherlock’s face, revels in the warm intimacy of the way it feels when their eyes meet from this close together, and he watches as sherlock’s small smile curls a little more, and he can’t help but kiss him again, and again, and again.
