Rommath sighed. Heā¦Supposed he couldnāt disagree with her on that one. It wasnāt as if he didnāt want her here, but more so constantly questioned the safety of sneaking into the city. There was always the lingering fear of if she would be caught. What would she do then? What would he do? That wasnāt a question he wanted to dote on at the moment. Rommath simply shook his head as he motioned to light the room around them, mage fire sparkling as lanterns and candles sprang to life. There, that was much better.
āI suppose you have got me there.ā He replied. He hummed for a moment then.Ā āThat would be ideal wouldnāt it? If, of course, you lived here. Then perhaps you wouldnāt hear my constant nagging about petty crime such as this. Anyways, my love, whatās brought you all the way out here? Shouldnāt the great Shadowblade be off doing thuggish activities with her goons rather than gracing some humble Grand Magisterās couch?ā
š”td:*:ļ½„ļ¾ Nanthis was never worried about her safety, and perhaps that was the problem. She never considered what would happen to him if she were caughtāit wasnāt as though the information could be tortured out of her, she had scars that proved that would never be the case. It was the emotional scarring that she hadnāt quite accounted for.Ā
The elf looked about the room when he set it alight and she shrugged her shoulders. She preferred the darkness, and did in fact, enjoy doing thuggish activities with her goons. But some things deterred her from that, and this happened to be one of them. The prior section of his response to her earned her a reason to speak on what she was there for.
āI could. Live here, I mean.ā
āNo.ā Rommath replied. Much as he would love for her to live here in the city with him, it was impossible. He had a feeling she would not enjoy being kept a secret, more than what was normal for them. Having her here felt much the equivalent of keeping a wild animal in a cage. Disaster was imminent. For the millionth time since the rogue wiggled her way into the Grand Magisterās heart, he wished greatly that things would be different and they could have their fairy tale ending. Or whatever was close enough for a Grand Magister and the leader of a secret organization.
āYou know we canāt do that... Much as I wish it were simply that easy.ā He continued.Ā āTo be able to come home to someone who I can actually tolerate every day.... Itās a wild fantasy, truly. But a fantasy nonetheless.ā
