Hey my fellow degenerate writers, Spectrotica here. I don't usually write political stuff on this site, but I REALLY need you all to be aware of this because this involves our digital freedom to write and post whatever we like on the internet, especially if you're queer or an NSFW fan.

The U.S. Congress is trying to pass internet regulation and age verification bills that include KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act), SCREEN Act, Trump America AI Act, App Store Accountability Act, COPPA 2.0, Parents Decide Act, FAKES Act, etc. These Trojan Horse 1984-styled bills that our dumbass lawmakers are so highly obsessed with will KILL the open internet as we know it and mass censor every website that we as Americans thrive on, all in the name of "protecting children's online privacy", and the full House committee have unfortunately passed the 19-bill package as of February of this year called 'the KIDS Act'. And to add salt to the wounds, they're also planning on getting rid of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.

To those who don't know what Section 230 is, it's a crucial law passed in 1996 that protects websites from being held liable for posts made by users like us. But now here we are, 30 years later, and they want it GONE! Without Section 230's protections, websites like this one would face lawsuits if this government finds whatever shit we like to post offensive, and the owners will have no choice but to either remove our content, or, have their websites cease to exist. That's what our unhinged politicians want for us, they want us to suffer in their dystopian wet dream without digital entertainment.

And they're doing it; because they're claiming that it's to 'protect children from Big Tech's influence', but in reality, they're trying to control everyone's free speech and freedom on the internet, particularly LGBTQ+ people and NSFW creators, because many Democrats we've trusted in Congress (including the majority of leftist users) are failing to understand that these garbage plans to "protect children" is a smokescreen for the conservative right to eliminate the existence of queer people, NSFW writers, and other minorities from the internet, as part of their fascist Mandate for Leadership: Project 2025 agenda to label every single site they personally don't like as 'harmful to minors' and have them forcibly removed. All because they would rather allow their disdain for sex workers and pornography blind them from seeing the bigger picture: this crusade will lead to the destruction of ALL of our digital rights. Porn today, queer people tomorrow, and eventually everyone else.

So, who am I?

Just an exhausted transgender woman who's a cock-addict, male-on-male writer and have just found her true calling on AO3 and Pixiv while coping in this cishet, fascist dystopia we're forced to live in, and now... they want to take that away from us too.

The irony is almost comedic: the same politicians who scream about 'freedom of speech' are stripping away ours, the same ones who clutch their pearls over 'protecting kids' are actively erasing ours. Like fucking shut up!

My mind hasn't stopped spinning since last December after watching the Democrats' egregious plan on introducing a new federal bill to gut Section 230. They seem to not give a damn about how much this would hurt all of us, and would rather keep believing in their fucking made-up fantasy that any of these bills would actually protect kids, when in actuality, kids will just find a way around them as they always have, while queer people and NSFW creators alike, will suffer the most. It's always US, the adults who just want to make a living on social media, who have to be punished and pay for what lazy parents have wrought, all because they bitch and whine about what our content does to their kids, when they should, I don't know, USE THE DAMN PARENTAL CONTROLS! Like HELLO!?

It's not just the internet either, they're trying to cement this shit into law, bill by bill, vote by vote, with no second thought as to its consequences. The Democrats have been turning their backs on us more frequently now than ever before, and the fact that we can't rely on them anymore is absolutely sickening. Even the Republicans who claim to be "pro-free speech" are just waiting in the wings to push their own Orwellian shit—censorship under the guise of "decency," surveillance under the banner of "security," and control packaged as "protection."

Meanwhile, not many people (including big-name LGBTQ+ orgs) are talking about this looming disaster, too distracted by performative rainbow capitalism or midterm election-year optics. But I scroll through Bluesky and X and see the panic spreading tweet by tweet. I'm sure by now that fanfic writers are archiving entire libraries, artists scrambling to watermark and back up decades of work, and NSFW modders for games are quietly shifting operations offshore. This is an underground pipeline of survival that queer kids have used for decades to find community when their schools, churches, and families failed them.

Somewhere in Texas, a 16-year-old is downloading every trans healthcare guide they can find before the archives vanish. In Florida, a bi furry artist is encrypting their Patreon sketches just in case. And me? I’m in Virginia downloading as many gay porn videos, fiction stories, and artwork to have them saved in my files, because I'll be DAMNED if I let these homophobic fascists erase our entire history in a 1930s Germany book burning level.

I can't express enough how FUCKING SICK I am of these unhinged boomers and their goddamn moral panic crusades! Like, newsflash: you don’t get to decide what the entire internet should look like just because YOU failed to monitor what your crotch goblins are doing online! Maybe, just maybe, if these privileged fucks back in 2018 had listen to whom they like to call "alarmist" leftists when we warned them about the slippery slope of SESTA/FOSTA instead of patting themselves on the back for "preventing sex trafficking", we wouldn't be in this mess right now! But here we are, in 2026, staring down the barrel of their "think of the children" bullshit while they actively burn every bridge queer and NSFW communities have built for survival.  

Listen up, because this isn’t rhetorical: CALL YOUR REPS!!!

Call them every single fucking day! Flood their offices until their phones melt. Tag every "Democratic" politician who’s cozying up to this censorship shit and remind them they work for US, not the goddamn Heritage Foundation. Screenshot their empty platitudes about 'protecting marginalized voices' and throw them back in their faces when they vote to erase us. This isn’t just about smut—it’s about whether queer teens in Alabama get to find PDFs of "The Transgender Teen" before their parents kick them out, or if disabled artists can still monetize their niche porn commissions when Patreon folds under legal threats.  

I'm watching people, mostly Gen Zers and Millennials, beginning to talk about KOSA and other similar bills. But meanwhile, the Human Rights Campaign and the Trevor Project are still not saying a word about it. Wake the hell up. This is how fascism win: by making us too exhausted to fight while they chisel away at our rights in increments so small they’re almost imperceptible. Until one day you wake up and the only "safe" internet left is a sanitized wasteland where every search for "gay" redirects to conversion therapy pamphlets.  

And yeah, I know. It feels impossible. But remember: fascists didn’t burn the Weimar Republic’s queer archives in a day. They did it while everyone was too busy arguing over "respectability." So grab your fucking matches. Archive everything. Spam every legislator’s inbox. Print out zines and leave them in bathroom stalls. Do whatever you have to, because I will not let them pretend we didn’t exist.
