## The Dark Days of Kirill

Kirill’s parents had gone on a business trip. The house where he was left behind — a small two‑storey cottage with a shady yard — suddenly began to feel strange and threatening.

**Days 1–3: Whispers of the Wind or Something More?**

The first three days passed fairly normally. Occasionally, Kirill heard the snapping of branches outside his window, but he chalked it up to strong winds and the thick fog that had enveloped the village. He tried not to think about the oddities: why wasn’t the sun ever showing itself? Why had the birds stopped singing? The boy passed the time with books and TV shows, convincing himself that everything was fine.

**Day 4: Kram’s First Intrusion**

Late in the evening, Kirill decided to go down to the kitchen for dinner. Suddenly, he heard the TV set humming from the living room. “It turned on by itself again,” the boy thought, and headed to check it out.

The moment he stepped across the threshold, Kirill caught a glimpse of a distorted face on the screen — a square head, empty eye sockets, unnaturally elongated limbs. It was Kram. A split second — and the image vanished.

Kirill froze, his heart pounding like crazy. “It was just my imagination… just a TV glitch,” he tried to reassure himself. But the cold sweat on his palms told him otherwise.

**Day 5: The Rattle of Bones**

On the fifth day, the nightmare intensified. Late in the evening, Kirill heard a distinct rattle of bones outside his window. The sound was so real that the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. Without hesitation, he ran out onto the porch — but the yard was empty. No footprints, no movement, just fog swirling around his feet as if it were alive.

Back inside the house, Kirill could no longer deny the obvious: he wasn’t going mad. Something sinister was truly happening here.

**Night of Days 5–6: Face to Face with Kram**

Deep into the night, the TV came to life again. This time, Kram didn’t just flicker on the screen — he filled the entire display. The creature moved its lips, emitting hoarse sounds in an unknown language. It was a message — or a threat.

Panic overwhelmed Kirill. He rushed to his phone to call his mom, but was met with a new problem:

* the internet was down;

* the electricity flickered, threatening to go out at any moment.

Desperate, Kirill made the only decision he could: barricade the bedroom door and board up the windows. He plunged the room into darkness, hoping it would protect him from the evil lurking beyond the walls.

But the silence was worse than any noise. From the hallway came:

* heavy footsteps, as if someone in boots with metal cleats was pacing back and forth;

* a dry rattle of bones, like someone rearranging skeletons;

* a whisper repeating his name.

Losing the last shreds of composure, Kirill crawled under the sofa and, in the cold and darkness, drifted into a restless sleep.

**Day 6: Light at the End of the Tunnel?**

Kirill woke up to bright sunlight streaming through the window. Could it all have been a nightmare?

Standing on the doorstep were his parents — alive and well. They had returned earlier than planned! Joy flooded the boy, and he rushed to meet them, breathlessly telling them about the horrors of the night.

His parents exchanged glances, visibly worried. Then they went up to the attic to check some belongings. A few minutes later, they came back with pale faces — in their hands, they held a strange totem.

The totem was carved from dark wood, covered in runes and symbols no one could decipher. The police, called by the parents, confirmed: this object was the source of dark energy that had long slumbered in the house.

**Epilogue: The Curse Remains**

The house was declared cursed and sealed off. Kirill and his family had to move out. But sometimes, on foggy evenings, the boy looks at the clouds and thinks he sees a familiar silhouette — a square head, empty eye sockets, endless darkness within.
