It is no question that Robin loves Superman. That's his idol and favorite superhero. However, the only one who doesn't think so is Bruce, and Bruce is Batman, so even if Dick is sad about probably never meeting the hero, he trusts Batman's intuition more than anything in this world. When a year passes since Robin's debut as a sidekick, Superman shows up in Gotham, and B goes stiff, but Superman didn't seem to catch on to that (boo, how can he be a superhero if even Robin saw that?). Robin might be a fan, but he is his daddy's first, so when he sees B looking like he dozed off from fear toxin, he doesn't care about looking like a fan or getting an autograph but is more concerned about Batman. He always protected Dick, so it's obvious he should also step up for B when needed, just like at the galas. They're partners after all!
Weeks after the incident, Superman again shows up in Gotham while he and B are patrolling. He does smile and wave at Dick, but then turns to Batman and says they need to discuss some business. Alone. Well, that isn't fair; he and Bruce are partners. If Superman does come to Gotham, he comes to them, not just Batman, but unfortunately for Dick, Bruce tells (more like commands, but that's how Superman hears that) Robin to go and explore the abandoned building near them. Okay, Dick can take a hint, but he will definitely ask Bruce what all of this was about.
Unfortunately for them, he loves to eavesdrop. You can't blame him for that when Bruce does that all the time. He hears them talking, or rather arguing. The weird part is that they argue like his parents would, the whisper-shout kind. Oh, okay, they are that weird. But B looks very uncomfortable, so what the hell is Superman telling him that has Batman frozen up? And they are standing too close to each other. Robin knows logically that Superman won't hurt him, but why is Bruce acting like that? So he just sends himself lunging at Superman because he just can't bear to see Bruce look like that. Superman can go and fuck himself for he cares and he has to be wary of Batman and Robin. When Bruce stops him and demands an explanation for such behavior, Robin grumbles about something personal space. Superman and Batman are confused, but B is very heartwarmed but doesn't show it. But later at the Batcave, he does give him the biggest hug, and Dick has to use a bit of strength to get out of that human trap.
