Hey! I've been not doing much lately but I have been reading comics! Here's a good one - Contest of Champions. Heroes across the Marvel multiverse are brought together to compete for the ultimate power in all creation (or something like that)! The whys aren't really important though - it's a fun series with a bunch of excellent guest stars including Punisher 2099!

New Comic Book Day: 2000 AD Edition Rory McConville is responsible for a full three fifths of the writing in the latest Judge Dredd Megazine - and I'm glad because its good stuff. Devlin Waugh is especially good. The supplement is Wagner's Walk from Tornado and its gripping - howled in despair to see it's to be concluded next month - I can't wait!

New Comic Book Day: Transformers Edition The Till All Are One Annual was extraordinary good. I am going to miss that series.

New Comic Book Day: Marvel Edition Comics with white to off-white backgrounds on the cover are where it is at. I'm sad and angry at myself for ever falling behind on Ms Marvel. Based on this issue, I've missed a lot of good stuff because this is as brilliant as those first issues from back in the day.

Okay - let's see what I've been up to lately - New Comic Book Day Comics: DC Edition! Metal 4 / The Wildstorm 10 / Wonder Woman/Conan 4 - all top quality in very different ways. Variety - that's the ticket!

Yes, more Transformers. I’ve been following Stuart Webb’s excellent blog, The Solar Pool http://thesolarpool.weebly.com/ (which follows his week by week reading of the Marvel UK Transformers comic) for some time.

Although I’m doing a similar thing (not as well, as comprehensively or as structured), I’m about two years behind. I’ve finally caved and started to read through some of these later issues as well. Really I just want to get to the awful GI Joe/Transformers crossover.

So I thought I’d start at issue 250, at the very end of the nineteen eighties...

Today’s Comic! Transformers The Definitive G1 Collection Volume 50: Heart of Darkness

The latest in the series of Hachette hardbacks. Heart of Darkness and Infestation are a long way from being the best IDW Transformers has to offer but they aren’t awful. The designs in Heart get a bit funky mind you.
