That was until she heard that awful words thrown around so carelessly. Mudblood. She threw her quill on the table, the ink splashing on her coursework in the process. But just as she was about to get up,she felt the hand on her wrist so she turned to face her friend. “I’ve had just about enough, Dorcas,” she whispered through her clenched teeth. 

So bumping shoulders with whoever came across her path, she found herself in the Slytherin quarters, at the girls’ side of the dorms. Easily finding Bella’s room, she came in without bothering to knock. She sighed in relief seeing her, but there were others too. So she stood there, biting down on her lower lip hard as she tried to keep her composure. 

“You know what, El? If anyone else told me that, I might think they were lying, but somehow, coming from you that makes perfect sense.” Kingsley was sure to anyone else that would come off as an insult, but Eloise would know what he meant by it. “I’m just glad Pomfrey was able to get your hand cleaned up.”

She scrunched her nose in what resembled an apologetic smile. “Yeah... I know.” What Kingsley said was quite true, sometimes even she couldn’t believe what kind of clumsiness she got herself into. “But I have good news too...” She bit her lip excitedly, trying to prevent herself from spilling the beans before establishing some suspense. “I passed the tryouts! Third year playing the Seeker for Huffs!” 

It was bunch of Slytherins and a couple Ravenclaws - all from a certain circle of people withing Hogwarts - who found her practicing alone in the pitch and decided it was good opportunity to rough her up a little bit. And while she would be terrified to be hurt by them on a regular day, that day she would rather be hurt herself than to watch the broomstick get shredded into pieces. 

Having enough of the sight of Paris’ latest model, very expensive and very broken broom, she tucked her knees to her chest and buried her head against her arms, crying as she muttered to herself how stupid she was for even touching Paris’ broomstick let alone accepting to practice with it after she already nailed the try outs. 

Jackson shook his head, “I’m good on that.” He said with a small laugh. “I need a more substantial breakfast before going down to the pitch for practice.” 

“Did you just food-shame your own captain, Flint?” she made a face at him. “Are you afraid I’m going to wear you all out on the pitch today? If you are, that’s totally justified. The newbies need to learn how to toughen up.” She slid off the bench and grabbed an apple.

“Makes me a bit jealous, I’d love to just throw people in detention that get on my nerves.” Bellatrix said with a laugh, knowing that if that were the case, over half of the school would end up there. “I think they frown upon hexing people, though.”

“Don’t be. That’s what I’m here for.” She grinned again and wiggled her brows. “Tell me who annoys you and I’ll make sure they learn not to cross you ever again. Trust me, a bit of cleaning work breaks down even the toughest ones.” She made a face after Bella’s comment. “Well... what they don’t know can’t hurt...” she winks. “I’ll give you a little secret: I let Evan get away with it on a daily basis.”

‘Prongs! I’m breaking out! Found something you gotta see!!! xxxx - Remus’

James had a million questions. Firstly, what in Merlin’s name was Moony escaping the hospital wing for? On most occasions James was all for a prison break, but when it came to his best friend after a night of wolfing out and dislocating his knee? Not the best idea.  So he’d set off with the intention of dragging said wolf back to the infirmary by his hairy little ear, but stopped short when he reached the meeting spot and caught sight of a redhead heading right for him. A redhead that was far too hot to be Remus Lupin. His eyes shut and he let out a groan (fortunately not loud enough to catch her attention) and he suddenly had a hard time remembering why he felt sorry for the bloke in the first place.  However he didn’t have long to wallow in his self pity as she reached him quickly, and he turned back around to see an inquisitive look in her eyes. He also hoped that something he spotted behind them wasn’t disappointment, because the ground might have just swallowed him whole if it was. He faked a cool, composed look as best he could and held up his note. “Sorry to disappoint, Evans, but it seems you’ve been tricked into meeting the more handsome Marauder this fine evening.”

She should’ve known. She should’ve known better than to fall for Remus’ acts but after years of friendship, she still hasn’t learned her lesson. While definitely cross with that little devil, she couldn’t help feel heat crawl up to her cheeks facing the situation. The situation being James Potter himself. 

She held up her own note that read: Lils! Me, you, the stars! Dont make me use up my wish on snagging a best friend date! “Seems like it,” she said with a mix of emotions. She was indeed avoiding him since school started about 5 weeks ago but this divine intervention was putting a stop to it altogether. If not caught off guard, she could have a witty comeback about his comment on his looks but for the moment, it escaped her. Not that she could really argue. He looked dashing as always.

Fidgeting on her feet, she finally gave a shrug. “I brought a basket full for a company of two. Would be a shame for it to go to waste.” She kept her gaze on him, seizing his reaction. “I don’t have all night to set it up, Potter. Yes or no? This is going to be a...purely platonic extra credit event. No need to make a big deal out of it.” As if to emphasize, she put down the picnic basket and her backpack full of astronomy books and parchments sticking out of them. 

‘not today, but anytime now for sure.’ he hums at the other’s words and bites the inside of his cheek as he lets his eyes move around the room before he seats up slightly to be able to look at the other.’ so, don’t let yourself be in self pity for too long, you’re not that special.’

“Oh, no, I’m not taken just yet. I think my parents know better than that.” She shrugged and sat next to Regulus. “Besides, they know I would not marry someone lesser than I am. I’m too good for a no-name.” She almost smirks at her own words. It’s not quite wrong to say, but also pureblood arrangements weren’t only so their kids wouldn’t run away to marry tainted blood. Sometimes it was politics. “I advise you find your own wife before they do it for ya.”

“You could’ve always asked me to practice,” Nat shrugged. “I wouldn’t have coddled you, you know that. If there’s every been a more worthy duelling partner, I’ve never met them,” she grinned.

“Yeah, with you, I have different worries. Like accidental death.” April chuckles and puts her wand back. “I’ll duel you if you promise not to kill me off,” she offered with a playful smile. It wasn’t often April complimented others, only if she was in a particularly good mood and for people she actually liked.

With a picnic basket in her arm and a blanket, she makes her way to the location his note says. But instead, it’s not him who she sees, but another marauder. 

She frowns seeing James’ back and clears her throat to get his attention. “Have you seen Remus? We kind of had a date? I mean, a friendly date.”
