Percy Weasley Defense League

Percy meeting Audrey while out in Muggle London one day and he’s just so enamored by her

Mrs. Weasley and Hermione convince Percy to go to a Muggle group session to help with anxiety after the war and to help with his survivor’s guilt and Audrey is in the group

They bond over how they both lost someone they loved and she just gets Percy 

Percy and Audrey go on a few dates and Percy just loves Audrey already because she’s so nice and pretty and understanding 

After going on about ten dates Percy finally tells Audrey he’s a wizard and at first she thinks it’s a big joke and Percy shows her a spell and she doesn’t talk to him for a few days/ sessions but then she reaches out to him 

And Mr. and Mrs. Weasley totally adore her because yes she’s a Muggle but she’s just perfect for Percy because they have similar personalities and it’s obvious they went through some of the same experiences 

Percy tells her all about the Battle and how Fred really died and she comforts him because she might not completely understand but she knows Percy isn’t guilty 

Audrey shows Percy Muggle music and books and he loves them. They read a lot of Greek mythology together because that’s something both wizards and Muggles understand 

When they get married, they have a traditional Muggle wedding because of Audrey. The Weasleys are so confused by it but they try so hard for Percy because he’s so happy and they’re so happy he found someone he loves so much

Audrey is never left out at family gatherings, there is someone always talking to her whether it’s Mr. Weasley asking about Muggle contraptions or Hermione bonding over their favorite bands and movies 

When they have kids they raise them with a healthy mix of Muggle and wizard culture

Audrey has both daughters in a Muggle hospital and she drags Percy to every ultrasound and he can’t believe that that is his baby on the screen and he cries every time

Molly and Lucy are both sent to Hogwarts but before that, Audrey insists that they go to Muggle schooling first which Percy completely agrees with.

Audrey loves taking her girls shopping whether it’s in Muggle London or Diagon Alley because she feels so honored to be in both 

Audrey’s parents and siblings think there’s something funny with Percy and his family but Audrey just says they’re eccentric 

Audrey decorates the house the Muggle way but they celebrate Christmas and other holidays with the Weasleys

Audrey loves her brothers and sisters in law because they love asking her questions and love helping her out

Percy Weasley 100% deserved his redemption and you want to know why?! Too bad, I’m going to tell you. For his whole life, Percy Weasley was made fun of, he was teased by all his siblings, constantly the butt of jokes. Whenever he was proud of his accomplishments, his family (besides his mother) shut him down. Prefect? Fred and George made fun of him for bragging, for being excited that he lived up to Bill and Charlie’s shadow. Head Boy? Fred and George teased him, stole his badge because they thought it was funny. Percy was so happy and proud of himself and his brothers tore him down. He was pushed aside for Bill or Charlie or even Ron and Ginny. Sure, his mother was proud of him, but his brothers made sure they made his life hell. When he got his job at the Ministry he was so excited. Right of school he got a job he loved, a job he was sure he was good at. He talked about it a lot but that’s what happens when you’re excited. His parents were proud, but again, his siblings made sure to tease him. When Crouch didn’t know his name, his siblings laughed, Fred and George sent him dragon dung. 

Then he gets the job of Junior Assistant to the Minister. He’s proud because he’s 2 years out of school and has this prestigious position. Of course he’s going to want to share with his family. What do they do? Tell him his hard work meant nothing, that the Minister was using him (and sure, that was probably true, but Percy was so excited). He saw that he and his family shared two very different views and opinions, some words were said, and Percy left. Reminds me of another beloved character that never gets shit about leaving his family from the fandom. Any guesses who? If you said Sirius Black you are correct! Like Sirius, he left home and the family he clearly no longer saw eye to eye with. That’s not a problem. He felt as though he was in a toxic environment, and honestly he was. I do not blame him for leaving his family even if they were for the wrong reasons. (but why does Percy get shit for leaving a toxic family when Sirius doesn’t? interesting) Now we don’t know what happened when he was at the Ministry. He wrote a letter to Ron that was a bit rude, but we’re also seeing this from Harry’s limited POV. Maybe Percy regretted leaving, maybe he loved his freedom and never wanted to go home. We just don’t know. He finally does come home for Christmas in 1996 (HBP), where he openly welcomed by his mother. He was being used by Scrimgeour, but he went. While his mother was welcoming, his siblings are not. He leaves with mashed parsnips in his face. Did he want to be there? No idea, but he went. How do you think he felt leaving? Probably awful. He didn’t go to Bill and Fleur’s wedding, but it was clear from the way his family treated him the year before that even if he did go, no one wanted him there.

The Battle of Hogwarts comes and Percy comes back. Yes, comes back. He went back to the family he left, he apologized for leaving and for being ‘family disowning, ministry loving, power hungry moron’ (as Fred put it), which he takes full blame for being. What happens next? Fred welcomes him back. Then his parents. Then George. They did not need to do this, but they did because they were family and they still loved each other. Percy fights in the Battle and ends up going up against Pius. He makes the “Hello, Minister, did I mention that I’m resigning!” joke which shows that his limited view has been expanded. He finally saw what was wrong with this Ministry, with what was happening around him (though this may not all be his fault, he surrounded himself with people who also had very limited knowledge and views). When Fred is shown dead, it is Percy who is crying over his body, Percy who tries to protect his body and hide it. Wonder how guilty he felt after this happened because he made Fred laugh and then Fred dies. We don’t know what happens to Percy after this but we clearly know he has a very fierce love of his family and that he was really and truly sorry. 

Which got me thinking so I talked to Inky about it and wow, Slytherin Percy. Percy getting sorted into Slytherin (or choosing Slytherin) and trying to fix everything from the inside out; organizing clubs for the first years so they can find friends who won’t bully them for not being purebloods, making to-do lists, running bake sales, writing pamphlets, leading tolerance training. Creating political movements and unapologetically gaining power. Making enemies with the blood purists, championing his Weasley name and making it ring powerful and important and influential with the new generation of witches and wizards.

Slytherclaw Percy who understands, who uses what he knows about Gryffindor from his family to empower the Slytherins who get glanced over and bullied. Telling them that they’re important and powerful and that this is the time to make the connections that are going to help them get ahead and succeed in life. Spending your time efficiently—that’s the way to succeed.

percy weasley who quietly accepts the christmas sweater he once sent back when molly hands it to him

percy weasley who never wears the sweater (but wants to, wants to wear it until it’s threadbare because maybe that would make the that look in his mother’s eyes go away; but he’s also afraid it might make it worse, which is not something he dares risk)

percy weasley who keeps a notebook with jokes he thinks fred might like and whispers them to his gravestone

percy weasley who keeps wondering if it shouldn’t have been fred in his place every time something good happens to him

percy weasley who is slowly, very slowly getting over his survivor’s guilt

percy weasley who is told he’s going to be a parent and isn’t sure if the tears are from happiness but is glad to have that excuse

percy weasley who is so goddamn scared of being a terrible father because he wasn’t very great as a son either

Autistic Percy Weasley who trusts authority figures. Who is so sure of their place (earned, of course) that he can’t understand why the people around him don’t understand that the authority figures deserve to be listened to.

Who takes pride and grows his worth around his ascension through the ranks; who glows under the praise of his superiors, sometimes even despite himself. Who makes sure that people follow the rules because that rigidity is the only way the system can function properly. Who stims on the sharp, magicked edges of his prefect badge (even after he graduates, sometimes, when he’s alone) and makes sure it is always fastidiously tidy. Who ignores the people who call him vain just because he cannot stand sloppiness, just because the way mud and sweat dries on his skin fills him with the feeling of a thousand bugs crawling around inside him and doesn’t go away until he scrubs himself so clean he’s raw. 

Who learned how to follow social scripts and do it well, but stumbles over his vocabulary when flustered, and is teased by Fred and George when they find him sitting in front of the mirror rehearsing it again and again so that next time he’ll get it right.
