A Mario Kart match sits frozen in place on the screen in the living room. Cody and Sin followed the sound of Pye bonking excitedly to find a newly hatched camel taking its first shaky steps, unsure if this monster barking at it is a parent or a predator.

“Fuck,” Cody says “take a video!” Sin aims his stolen cellphone at the camel. “This cat is not like the other one at all” Cody continues. He gets closer to the camel, which flinches but doesn’t flee. Pye is watching in awed silence. “Whoa!” Cody pets the camel on its head. “Whoa!” He looks back at Sin. “What should we name it?” “Let us name it Cody.” “Yeah!!!”

Back at the Balthazar space station.. such a fucking drag. Billy and the rest are only ever allowed in the lobby area... such that it is. The screams and wailing from behind what they've been calling the "office door" are enough to squash Billy's curiosity.

Balthazar will usually just sit and stare at them for a few minutes before he gives them a job. Billy always hated the way old people look. Their eyes are so wet and their skin looks so saggy and uncomfortable. But by Bondage this old geezer looks calmer than most of the victims he sends them after. No tremors, no forgetfulness, just an evil sonofabich who is probably kept alive by his love of hurting people. Somewhat respectable. If Billy lives that long, he hopes he can at least look as good as the old freak.

Balthazar is still staring. Akita has been sitting back as lazily as she always does. Ghati is sleeping in his chair. Vapordrone is at full attention.. she loves that old man. And Teresa is still on the ship... freaky girl doesnt even say hi to her grandpa. Billy doesnt really care about that since he never even had a regular pa, but still..

Balthazar parts his shrivelled lips and says in his rasping voice as forcefully as he can "Your next job is on Planet Oeto. The prime minister of their capital city borrowed a sum of money from one of my associates for her campaign and never paid it back. You are to repossess her title and position." He stands up slowly and leaves.

There's a sound of joints popping as Akita stretches and stands up. "This should be fun. Ghati wake up" she smacks him hard enough to startle him awake. "Back to the ship everyone."

<Interior, the Vapor. This room is tall, and the walls are lined with shelves containing old books and opaque jars. The air circulates unnaturally with spellpower, keeping the air fresh despite the combined age of the things stored here. The room also doubles as a cluttered bedroom, dining room and study for a young witch in voluminous robes and an absurdly wide hat. Sin appears.>

Sin: ...

Teresa: ...

Sin: Is your captain a demon?

Teresa: She is. Are you a demon too?

Sin: I am.

Teresa: And you’re intruding in my room why?

Sin: I am attempting to stop you from destroying my home.

Teresa, glasses glinting: Oh you live on that research ship?

Sin: I do.

Teresa: Well I’m going to destroy it. Sorry~

Sin: I see.

Teresa, amused: Am I scaring you?

Sin: Your captain scares me. Her essence permeates every inch of this ship outside of this room.

Teresa: Yeah well, no one’s allowed in here. Not even Akita. What kind of lame demon is scared of other demons?

Sin: It is a survival instinct for the weak to avoid the strong.

Teresa: ...

Sin: May I stay here while I collect myself?

Teresa, dramatically sighing, then smirking: Fiiiine, you can stay here. But you have to tell me your name, weakling demon~

Sin: It is Sin.

Teresa turns away to continue tracing her destruction circle spell. Under the privacy of her hat’s brim she smiles to herself. Twenty minutes of silence pass and she feels the air displace as Sin leaves. She laughs to herself.
