"The tilted man", oil on paper, 50x70 cm, june 2026
The first version of this piece was done with acrylics in a very experimental sketchbook which is made of different types of papers, forms, colors. I dedicated this sketchbook to anatomical studies with various mediums (paint, pastels, collage, embroidery...). It wasn't done with the intention of more but simply as a fun little exercice. It was almost two years ago.
Since then, I have been told repeatedly that my figures always look like actual statues and I wanted to lean into this concept, subliming anonymous bodies with simple shapes, values and a limited palette.
I have started my oil painting adventure only this year and this painting is my second ever "big" piece. I was planning to have a piece that I could go back to every now and then and add to it. With more experience, with a different eye. Either with a brush or with my fingers. A piece made from letting go of imperfections and traditional processes. This piece might never be done. This picture of it merely represent one moment of it’s existence.
I hoped for people to come to my house and stop in front of it. Either wondering what it might represent or just from looking at the marks and all the depth representing in itself: my own life journey.
I participated to an urban sketch national event not long ago. It was in Rouen, which is such a lovely city in Normandy. I got the chance to meet an online friend for the first time. I kinda screwed everything I tried that day, every sketch was such a mess. But my enthousiasm couldn't be trampled, I was having an amazing day !
My friend tried to tour me around the city, and also burn me alive on the sun exposed docks that are actually MILES LONG omfg.

Some really quick (10 or so min) palette study. I really just wanted to try so colour combination and that was it
But some of my friends told me they actually love the cats...?? Kinda confused on this one but oh well
Idk what to think of this one.... I wanted to make an abstract sky with oil? Idk what to say.... I need time to think and take a step back
Anyway, it was done quickly, so it doesn't really matter if it sucks. I did something, it's a win in my books
Saw a guy make a impressionistic bonfire with oil on insta. My brain went: yes, of course I want one.
I wanted to try and do a realistic one, without anykind of reference Idk what I expected...? But in the end this first layer became the last. I freaking love it. I always try to do more "illustrated" brushwork and never succeeded until now.
A friend told me the whole layout looks like a instagramable post... so I guess I have to paint in the middle of the night for my brain to say "fuck it" and actually do the satisfying spread?
Anyway, love this one, I'm still riding the endorphin rush~
