golf is life

I understand the rule that is ‘outsiders’ being able to call (where is the number or place to email? that very thought intrigues me) must be put into play if someone does it because it is the rule but, the rule shouldn’t even be an actual rule. Someone who isn’t a rules official should not be allowed to officiate a tournament. Period.

Golf is a game of honesty and integrity, having the ability to call oneself out of rule breaking. And mostly every professional on the PGA or LPGA is where they are today not only because of their incredible talent and dedication, but because they have those said traits.

So, a rules official or player that finds themselves breaking the rules by accident and calls it out, then go ahead, assess what needs to be assessed.

But, what irks me (and the rest of the whole golfing world) is that someone who isn’t those two types of people can actually call out something a day later.

Its like someone calling in once the Superbowl is over and telling the referees that no, the guy’s foot wasn’t actually in the endzone by a half an inch and the referees actually responding to it and that team loses the thing they’ve been working towards all season, their whole lives.

So, anyways, the rule just needs to be changed so this wouldn’t have even happened in the first place. Both Lexi Thompson and So Yeon Ru were incredibly classy and played amazing this week. And props to Lexi for handling it the way she did. I think this will definitely make her stronger, almost reminiscent of DJ losing the PGA Championship and then winning a U.S. Open a few years later.
