Boy with a broken soul

You smelt of jasmine that morning. I thought: maybe she’s ugly under her mask? Or disfigured. But it didn’t matter. You wouldn’t let me kiss you. I thought: she’s even lonelier than me. She loves as though she is seeking revenge.

Loving a wild thing is like having a lion for a pet. You know it’s a creature of violence whose very nature and talent is murder, and yet it lies down at your side and purrs for your touch alone.

Her response brought him ease. He thought she would walk away, leave him to the dogs. The strange, almost empathetic gesture of her caressing his face told him otherwise. “Not unicorns. Dinosaurs?” Out loud the words sound insane. “Jurassic Park/World, actual breathing dinosaurs?!” He searched her face for an indication of her finding the idea as bizarre. His eyes wide and his body weak from the intense running secession he endured from running from those should be extinct creatures. “I never thought anything could be as bad as the univorns, but I was attacked by a creature who doesn’t eat meat.I have never ran so fast in my life!” Death as well. Apparently?

“I know,” she replied a little too calmly, her arm looping in his. She wanted to walk him to their room before anyone saw him. With the way purgatory worked, he’d be in the medical sanctuary for weeks, then come back a mindless blob. “Did you meet Rex?” Once again she said the selected words more than a little too calmly. Almost like she were talking about the weather and not a giant t-rex. “He doesn’t eat meat here. Everything works opposite on that section of the clock. So, erm, the vegetarians eat meat and the carnivores don’t. It’s pretty cool, if you’re into that stuff.” She bit the inside of her cheek. “Let’s fix you up, alright? I won’t make it hurt or nothin, since you’re a good dude.” There is a light nod to show she’s trustworthy, then a horrible attempt at the Lord’s cross. “Scouts honor, yeah?”

His body tensed at the question. Did he meet Rex? No. He met the cute dinosaur fellow who attempted to kill and eat his scrawny little body. “Would've been helpful to know this before i almost was killed by dinosaurs." He leaned on her for  balance,  his head resting on the top of her head. Any other day he might have said something sarcastic about how religion had no place in purgatory.  Any other day, but not today. 

I’ve seen a lot of “reblog if you’ll roleplay with such-and-such demographic” posts lately, so I just want to say:

You can’t do that, you can’t just come in and fuck everything up for me, that’s not fair.
