MERCURY RETROGRADE - 27 September 2021 – 17 October 2021

This Mercury Retrograde season takes place in the sign of Libra. Therefore, is calling us to revise and reassess matters connected with partnership, relationships and marriage, and the way we communicate and understand each other in our relationships.  It puts un emphasis of reflecting and reconsidering how truthful, fair and considerate we are in our connection with people from our personal, professional, social or business environment.

  Do we are able to take under consideration others people opinion or point of view; do we make right choices; how much you give and what you receive from others; do my relationships are based on fair play, harmony and balance or not?  These are some of the questions and situations which we may need to face and address, and perhaps fix and improve during this Mercury Retrograde. Be cautious with fraud emails, SMSs, scam phone calls, etc.     Old, unresolved problems with friends, family, community, bosses or employees may be experienced and you have to fix, clear up or to address such issues during this time. It is also possible, an old friend or someone from you past (you haven’t heard from a long time) may surface in your life, or you may get news for a such person/people.         Mercury retrograde is a favourable astrological period for study, undertaking coursers, research, planning or preparing your future projects or ventures. Use this time for education and preparation rather than taking action. If you do your homework, then the result will be three times more rewarding, than you expect, after the retrograde period.     Keep in mind that these are GENERAL ASTROLOGICAL TENDENCIES and how exactly this energy will influence you it’s depending on your personal horoscope, but most definitely you will feel these astrological events in one way or another, especially, in some areas in your life. I honestly don't have any rants about my love life because I'm single like a pringle since birth. There were definitely multiple chances when I could've gone into a relationship, but I felt really uncomfortable and cautious. I feel like I'm very selective on who I let into my "inner circle," so naturally, it was hard for me to think of going into a relationship with someone because then I would have to share a lot of personal things and I don't like doing that when I don't know someone that well.

I saw green and envy, this could be something where someone has loved your fire at a young age or time. Middle school or elementary. "Happiness is a butterfly/happiness was a butterfly". Not feeling too great today. I fear I may be crashing from my 2 days of general euphoria, and now I feel the return of anxiety and fear I wish I had addressed instead of spending 2 days in the kitchen cooking my delicious Mabon menu.

Alas, you can't unring that bell. And frankly, I think the euphoria was aided by my 2 days of pouring my heart and good humor into my food while enjoying movies I love playing in the background.

I also pulled an energy card from my regular tarot deck for the day. That is, what kind of energy I am feeling at this moment in time. For Tuesday, I pulled this lucky card: 10 of Swords

Here is a (semi) short list of tips and history for tarot cards for the beginner witch!

1) There are actually two forms of divination cards you can use in your practice. There after Tarot cards and Oracle Cards. Tarot cards are already established in terms of their meanings. Tarot decks in witchcraft is made up of about 78 cards, of the major and minor arcana. The minor arcana is broken up further into four suits, depending on who made the cards (for example in 14th century Italian tarot, the pentacles suit were coins), similar to playing cards. The major arcana are 22 trump cards. Major arcana in readings relate to large life events and themes, whereas readings with minor arcana cards refer to day to day events. Oracle Cards differ from this in that they are made specifically by the user, and each card's meaning and properties are created by the caster. They also can be very flexible, such as using a pack of 52 playing cards and coming to meanings through the suits. They are very personalized. Please note that there are many forms of divination and this is just in regards to card divination.

2) Tarot doesn't actually tell your future, past, or present. What tarot does is reconstruct the narrative you are looking at your life from. If you are using tarot it means you have a need, interest, or uncertainty. The number of cards you choose are how many parts this story has, how many acts. From there it's a natural tendency to look and see where you fit in that narrative. Similarly, some problems in life become so complicated we cannot untangle them. Tarot offers a new lens that simplifies problems, by creating a space where it is easier to vocalize how you feel about a topic. Take the sun card for example. Drawing this card, with traditional interpretation, means prosperity. But based on what question you ask, it may mean warmth, summer, even exploration, or knowledge. Everything can be broken down into a symbol. Your experience of how you interpret those symbols is just as important as seeing them

3) Tarot burnout exists. Doing tarot readings every day will reduce effectiveness. Tarot is supposed to help you look into yourself for the answers, not give them to you outright. You shouldn't be looking to tarot to guide you, rather to understand what choices you need to be making to get the outcomes your desire. If you find yourself looking into the cards more often than you should, make sure you are questioning what is causing the anxieties that create this behavior, and how to address them.

4) If you're going to shell out for your own deck, try and order from the artist themselves. Oftentimes sellers like wish or AliExpress reproduce them, illegally, using lesser quality materials. Not only is it important to support other witches, but it's important that the decks you eventually choose represent you in their fullest extent, and a slightly misprinted card can hurt readings over time.

5) One of the ways my tarots help me the most is through journaling. Once a week I pull a card, and write everything I know and think about in relation to that card. You will be surprised how deep you can get into yourself with just a little thought and a card with cups on it.

When you’re stepping outside, you’re making yourself vulnerable to many different energies and some of them can feel negative and uncomfortable. These unwanted energies can often come to us unexpectedly and might lead to mental or physical overload, anxiety, tension, nervosity and so on. So here are my tips on how to cope with this kind of energy when you’re on the go.

~ Block it with shields 🛡

If you regularly work on your shields: awesome, we love it. But let’s be honest, a lot of us forget about that or simply don’t have the time. But you can quickly visualize a shield of energy surrounding you and blocking all of the negative energy. Though, I would suggest preparing your shields when you know that you’ll be surrounded by negative energy, for example on a trip with your problematic family or else.

~ Breathe it in, accept it, breathe it out, move on 🌬

Breathing is relaxing, healthy and sometimes all you need. It is important that you accept the energy if possible. But that obviously depends on what kind of energy you’re dealing with.

~ Destroy it in your mind 💥

Sometimes we just want the negative energy to go away. Visualize and destroy the energy with imaginary fire or something else in your mind. This works great together with the breathing technique.

~ Let it flow into Nature 🌳

Nature is your best friend. It can easily deal with all negative energy and will ultimately just digest it. If you have nature around you at that time, I would always suggest this method. In my experience, you also don’t need a whole forest for this, one tree, plant, water or else should work just fine. Again, it depends on the kind of energy you’re dealing with.

~ Place it into a crystal or something else 💎

If you have a crystal with you, you can just place the negative energy into it. This works best with a crystal that is known for healing or bringing positive energy, like a clear quartz, selenite or else. But I found that even a simple anti-stress ball works. Remember to clean whatever you’re using later. A crystal can also hold energy to help you create a shield or destroy the energy.

~ Let it go back to where it came from 🔙

This does not mean that you’re cursing someone or something, you’re just simply returning the energy to where it came from. This is a little more passive agressive if you will, but it might be necessary. There are many ways to do this, you could whisper a quick incantation, do it with visualization and so on.

Go blackberry picking. Use fresh blackberry juice to create a lip and cheek stain. Whisper and incantation of your choice to the berry before you apply. 

Black tea bags make a great eyeshadow. Dampen your tea bag and gently press against your eyelids. Keep re-wetting your tea bag for a richer color. This works well for a soft brown eyelid stain. 

If you want to lighten your hair, squeeze about 4 lemons into ¼ cup of water. Thoroughly soak your hair with the mixture and sit out in the sun for 1-2 hours. Use your sunbathing time to mediate. Rinse your hair afterwards. Repeat the process until your hair is lightened to your liking. 

Create a subtle perfume with your favorite herbs and wildflowers. I like lavender and rosemary, or lemon and honeysuckle. You can use herbs and scents that correspond to intentions you wish to add to your perfume. In a mortar, or mason jar, or small bowl, mash up your desired scents to a pulp and add 2 table spoons of coconut oil. Transfer to a resealable container. With your fingers, lightly dab the mixture onto the insides of your wrists and on your collarbones. Some scents to try: rose, pine, sage, lilac, thyme, orange peel, mint. 

For an easy exfoliant, mix together brown sugar and coconut oil. Use when you need to banish negative energy that’s surrounding you.

Today we’re gonna talk about telling the difference between anxiety/paranoia & intuition, for my mentally ill witches out there! *This is entirely based on my experiences. 

Okay so I struggle with anxiety & OCD. So I struggle with paranoid thoughts and anxious thoughts pretty often. It also of course effects my witchcraft. I’ve had a strong intuition all my life. But it still can be pretty difficult to answer the question “Is my anxiety/OCD trying to talk me into doing something or is my intuition trying to guide me?”

Overall, here is what I have learned.

Anxiety/paranoia are trying to sell you something, your intuition doesn’t care if you listen to it. 

Anxiety & other issues WANT you to listen, they’re practically begging you to take the bullshit they’re selling. Don’t. My mother has always said “The universe speaks in whispers.” Every year I age I find that to be more true. Your intuition will rarely be super obvious or undeniable, you have to decide, you have to decide to listen.
