If I write a story about a doctor treating patients, it doesn't mean I want to be a doctor in real life. If I write a story about a murder where the murderer gets away with it in the end, it doesn't mean I have some secret desire to be a real murderer. If I play Guitar Hero for hours a day, it doesn't mean I'm automatically going to be good at playing a real guitar. The violence in video games debate has long since been settled.

And if you can understand why T-bagging someone in a video game doesn't mean you like real gun violence, then why the fuck are the rules so different if someone is thirsting over cartoon characters??? Are you people going to address this fucking ludicrous double standard????

Plenty of lesbians have been attracted to male cartoon characters, and plenty of gay men have been attracted to female cartoon characters, and it doesn't invalidate their queer identity. Doesn't anyone remember the way Markiplier kept thirsting over Craig from Dream Daddy despite knowing for sure that he's straight in real life?? Let's also not forget that plenty of aroace people are still attracted to fictional characters, that's called being fictosexual, and you can have F/Os like that while still having no desire to tango with any real person in real life. It's actually quite common!

i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3

unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it

i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map

i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs

this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.

crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.

As long as homo sapiens have existed, we have had the same emotional and mental capacity as you and I do today. You nailed it. They were US. Even Neaderthals existed alongside and had offspring with Homo Sapiens for many thousands of years.

There's much evidence that cavemen would have had complex spoken language, culture (learned information passed down), symbolic interpretation, and I think they most certainly would have been able to handle holding a baby. At the beginning of the next class, my teacher showed us a cave painting of a horse. And then he showed all of our horses, which he had scanned and put into the presentation.

He then pointed out all the ways that our horses looked similar to the prehistoric horse. Same features, drawn from the same angle, etc.

And then he asked us, "Isn't it cool that you draw horses the same way as someone who lived 20,000 years ago?"
