Work Stations critique - BLOG 6
Photographer Anna Fox commissioned a project in 1987 to highlight the aggressive nature of British office culture. The general story tells a day in the life at work. The series depicts a highly masculine environment by using certain technical choices to have the men overpowering the women. Fox’s use of a strong flash accentuates the expressions of the people in the images. In general, the series is pretty crowded but the camera angle helps to soften the noise. The series entails 10 photographs (only 5 are shown here for samples) and all of them are fully in focus and are full of colour. The series does an incredible job telling a story of the aggressive nature of a business environment in the 80s. The women are shown as second to male counterparts and each worker seems to only be worrying about themselves.
