managed to condense my guidelines a little more ( here you go ). they still said i was 25, so. it was time. 

Hi, we don’t speak anymore. But today I learned that the Angels have an actual inspirational basis.

Joseph has way more in common with Jim Jones than I expected.

I don’t actually want to come back; I just want an outlet to talk about cults, alternative religious movements, and social hierarchies. Like, I would love to write Joseph again, but the only effective way to do that is to speak realistically about these topics. And I’m not fully convinced people want to hear it. I’m not talking about expanding on meta anymore. At this point, I think there’s enough on this blog that props up the way that the Project functions as an insider. It’s time that someone talks about what it’s like to join a group like Eden’s Gate, live inside it versus out in the wider world, and eventually LEAVE OR SUCCUMB to its pressures. We can dog on height or whatever all day, but all that truly does is alienate people who are already susceptible to these groups and movements. It doesn’t do anything to inform people of the dangers of these dynamics. Instead, why don’t we talk about the dangers of groups who push people to sell their homes and give their money to leadership? Why don’t we touch down on evangelism, recruitment, and what colors a red flag? What about the actions taken to instill unquestioning dogma in followers? It’s a lot easier to get sucked in by cults than largely believed, and it’s equally as dangerous to write things like that off. ( In my opinion ), it’s just time we criticize Eden’s Gate properly—in ways that show what makes the Seeds actual villains in the framework of the real world.

Listening to a podcast on cults, extreme belief, and the abuse of power. There are a lot of things that remind me so much of Eden’s Gate. I can’t help but wonder how much research went into the initial design of the Project, just for Ubisoft to destroy their own narrative.

Listen. I want to be here, but I’ve developed an extremely in-character hyperfocus on religion and spirituality (+ whatever comes with that), and it once again has a hold on me.

In all seriousness, there are things I need to address with past events, hills on which I’m unwilling to die, and changes that need to be made to the way I approach writing Joseph. For now, I just want to say that this is a platform meant to both address my own religious traumas and move forward from them in a way that educates myself and offers growth. Doing so requires a lot more care than I’ve given in the past. It’s no longer about making a statement; it’s time I do the work and show the kind of damage these groups can cause.
