Oh that's cool. Do you think you could share a few snippets of what you have regarding toraya and nafa?
a mercenary clad in black battered armor is lying down amidst a rubble, clearly unable to move because he just fell
in his dying moments he thinks about his mercenary group, how he lied to every single one of them about who he is and what he is
a different lie each time, he tells them it's a secret
now he's alone, no one is coming to get him, and he wonders if they have already figured out the lie?
the fog whispers, wispy image of his comrades pointing at him, calling out to someone. the last thing he saw before he lost consciousness was a boy wearing a glasses
he wakes up in a cabin, stripped out of his armor and all his wounds are treated
it still hurts but he can walk
he exits his room he realizes it's an airship and it's flying smoothly in the air
he drags his body through the hall, not daring to call out to anyone just in case
this place is far too empty for a ship this big
the boy he saw finds him and yells at him for aggravating his wound the mercenary grabs him and demands to know where his comrades are, only to be met with the question "are you worried about them?"
in which the mercenary replies with an incredulous "yes" of course he is!
the boy's expression softens and he apologizes to the mercenary without mincing his words "they're dead. i'm sorry for your loss."
"don't fuck with me! i saw them! they led me to you!"
"they did"
"then they're not dead."
"i can show you their corpse as proof, but I don't think you'll appreciate that."
and so the boy leads the mercenary to a cold room with dozens of cupboards embedded into the wall. the boy pulls out several of the drawers revealing the corpses of the mercenary's comrades inside "why⌠why are you keeping their corpses?" how are they in such a good condition?
"to send them back to their hometowns to be buried there"
"you don't know where their hometowns are"
"but you do, right?"
he does. the mercenary only ever tell lies about himself but his comrades always tell him the truth. there is something incredibly wrong with this boy. something is off about his face and demeanor but the mercenary has no hope left to live for and if being toyed with by some sort of dark being is the last thing he would ever do as a living being, then he has neither complaint or excitement for this he tells the boy where, and he somehow ends up telling the boy more than just their hometowns
he remembers every single truths they told him, every single lies he noticed, and everytime they apologized for lying and the times where they thanked him for not saying anything even though he noticed the room is suddenly set ablaze with white flame and⌠the ghosts of his comrades appear
they look at him in surprise, in fondness
"you do care"
the boy, the necromancer, told him that they figured out the mercenary has lied to every single one of them after their death, that they felt betrayed, but while some want to condemn him the others believe you have a justified reason for your lies "but now it doesn't matter anymore." the necromancer smiles "because what they really want to know is whether or not you care"
the ghosts begin to fade, moving on to the afterlife, satisfied that their friendship isn't really sullied
"my name is toraya" the necromancer introduces himself "what's your name?"
the mercenary stares at him, at his savior "i haven't decided yet." he wants to-- needs to reinvent himself for this person
"oh well, take your time." the necromancer says "you'll be with me for a while anyway."
