Love Hearts

Whatever level of romance you are planning this Valentine’s Day, it’s nice to have a little nudge to tell the special folks in your life how great they are. Here are a few ideas on how to make the most of getting a bit mushy.

First up - hazelnut macarons with chocolate and tahini ganache! These are from the super talented Yolk, turn up with these and your welcome is assured. Something small and sweet - Phoenix necklace in steel and pastel pink with oxblood. With the weather like this snuggling up will be all important, these pastel herringbone blankets from the Hackney Draper should do the trick. Ottolenghi’s salads are the perfect Valentine’s meal, light, delicious and so pretty. I have all his books or check out his column in The Guardian for inspiration, if you both eat all the garlic it’s fine right?! I love Chloe Hall’s illustrated cards, pretty but not too twee, perfect for any super tasteful lady in your life. And finally rather than braving the outside world on Sunday I’ll be seeking out a place with a big squashy sofa, some sweet treats and forcing the lovely people in my life to watch Strictly Ballroom. Again. Whether you are a fan of Valentine’s or not, I highly recommend that as a plan for a February evening, enjoy! x

Fire and Ice

I may be suffering from Game of Thrones withdrawal but I was inspired to create some new colours for my favourite shapes which I've been thinking of as Fire and Ice. There is a gorgeous new coral paired with palest pink and jet metallic suede, and ice blue and green with copper metallic suede. These pieces are limited edition and only available from me in person, so come and say hi at one of markets I'll be exhibiting at in the next few months!

Beautiful Creatures #2 Sue from Crocodile Dundee 2

I was watching this on New Years Day and maybe it was the boozey haze because there is no doubt she has pants taste in men, and is mainly famous on the internet for bending over in some uncomfortable looking swimwear but Sue is rocking some awesome outfits in Croc Dundee 2.

I'm totally in love with the wide sleeve blouse, the skirt, the tiny suspenders, even the boots are amazing.

And for being kidnapped in why not choose an extremely elegant black suit and your best starlet hair, plus enormous earrings.

An unlikely style icon but definitely my New Year fashion inspiration.

Maude - made me want to wear my hair in plaits all the time, get a motorbike and grow old disgracefully. Unfortunately I have yet to live up to most of the above (when will they make a bike helmet that fits an updo underneath?) but the comforting thing about Maude is there is still so much time and so much stuff to fill it with. Brighton Rocks

Thanks to everyone who came down to the Yard market on Sunday, it was a lovely if slightly chilly day, and I'm looking forward to going back there on the 23rd of December for all of Brighton's last minute present buying needs!
