It happens now and again ( maybe a bit more - so now than it used to ), the want to be a bit domestic for a change instead of heading out in search of dinner; but if she’s honest, there’s a part of her that almost prefers it. It’s a chance for the two fo them just to be — no rushing, no fussing. Jon tends to his post at the stove, keeping an eye on the pot of stew while Door works on the vegetables to go along with it. Ghost, of course, keeps close to their feet as he always does, waiting in the ( highly - probable ) hope of a fallen morsel of food. Other than the occasional bubble from the pot and a jingle for a local car dealer, the camper is more or less quiet.
A familiar song comes on after the commercial break, one she recognizes only a few guitar notes in despite the radio’s best attempt to hide as much of the music as it can in white noise; the crankles and hisses reminding her of an old record player more than anything now. But she refuses to part with it —- even if the majority of it is now made up more of tin foil and bent clothing wire than anything else. ( It’s been with her for decades now; almost as long as he has. ) She begins to hum along with the song as she goes, sliding one pile over to the edge of the cutting board to make room for the next.
"Do you remember this one too?“ A smirk — either out of recognition or simply due to the fact she’s humming along to something again; she isn’t quite sure which it is just yet — is caught out of the corner of her eyes when she glances over at him, a slight little curve of his lips while he continues to tend to the pot on the stove. The expression only grows after she asks, a sign she takes as a non - verbal way of saying that he does. It gets a laugh over the wail of the guitar, her humming quickly turning to singing along once the chorus comes around again.
She pauses a few lines in; it’s her turn to smile now as she sets down the knife and leans on the countertop. It isn’t long before his arm gets a gentle nudge, her fingers reaching out for his hand. "Does that mean you also remember me making you dance with me to it?” He’ll have to forgive her for assuming the answer to that question is also a yes ——– she does have a bit of a habit of pulling him close when there’s music. She can’t help it — it’s always been that way.
“Think I can get you to do it twice?”
